D was solid overall, produced turnovers, but TB made some good adjustments in the 2nd half, and was successful in the mid-range passing game.
Running game was good today, but we had some drives where we stalled out in good field position. There were chances to move it and get some more points. Benjamin and Olsen were great, Anderson played well, but about threw the game away at the end on that whiffed pick. Some untimely penalties.
Why did we have to let this game get interesting? Still, I'll take the win, first opening game win since 2008.
We seemed to run out of gas towards the end of the game. We were almost mistake free for over 3 quarters and then we could not get it together.
Anderson proved why we keep him around. Overall a very solid game from our backup QB. The running game did well (at least with DWill in the game. And our blocking, with a few exceptions, was better than expected. NO TURNOVERS, very good for playing against a Lovie Smith coached team.
The D played great for about 48 minutes. Thank God, Luke found a little left in the tank on that fumble he caused. Mistakes, players out of position, cost us to give up 14 points.
It always worries me when our kicker misses a FG, but other than that Gano and Nortman were solid. Philly, didn't do much but again, made NO MISTAKES.
Overall, it was a good game and a good win. NOT a great game. We showed we can close games out even if we stumble late. I also have to say, Tampa is going to be tough this year.
