Does this person understand that when Canadian teams play the Coyotes in Arizona (Canucks, Oilers, and Flames especiially), at least half the fans in attendance are travelling to the game?

If you recall, back in 1997/early 1998, the moving trucks were about to be loaded and Edmonton almost became the Houston Oilers. 35 or so people formed the Edmonton Investment Group and cobbled together enough money to keep the Oilers in Edmonton.

I only mention this because Phoenix has had more than enough time to find a solution to keep the Coyotes in the desert and couldn't get it over the line.

Does that AAV seem a tad low to anyone?

I mean, he's no Darnell Nurse but wow.

Well, last time I looked, no state income tax in Nevada thus his take home pay will be much higher than say signing with a New York team. That Nurse contract is so bad lol.

capfriendly has a tax calculator on its site to figure out take home pay and I grabbed the following (not sure how accurate this is, mind you) - The rumo(u)r was he was offered 7.5 million in Calgary so let's plug in some numbers:

Vegas: $7,350,000 = $4,675,293 after tax
Alberta: $7,500,000 = $3,934,350 after tax

The contract is front loaded at $9.5 for the first year so after tax that's:

Vegas: $6,029,793
Alberta: $4,974,350

Does that set Hronek pricing?

I think Filip is quite pleased about this signing, but I don't think he brings as much to the table as Hanifin does. That said, he could get a nice payday on July 1st.

/My bad, I thought Hronek was a pending UFA, he's a RFA after this year.

When I was working in the States, my wife didn't allow me to take a consulting opportunity in Vegas as she feared all my earnings would go to the sports books and blackjack tables lol.

Pro athletes also pay tax when they play on the road though so this is only good for half that value, the rest based on where each team plays their road games. Unfortunately Vegas still has to play a shit ton of their road games in CA and BC.

At least that’s the way I understand it.
