If we got a sandwich pick who could hit as well as the catching prospect that the Astros gave up I would be very happy. How high did we draft Cone, Skole and Deglan?

How are you proposing we get a player and a pick for Gallardo? Draft picks can't be traded (which I'm sure you know). We would only get a compensatory pick if we extend a QO to him, and somebody besides us signs him.

I don't think he is.... he's saying if the QO pick we get after the first round is as good as the player the A's got it doesn't seem like a bad idea to keep Gallardo and hope someone signs him... if they don't we keep Gallardo for another year, and maybe flip him next year if needed

The point was based on the idea that the package for Kazmir isn't as good as what we would've hoped for a guy probably every bit as good as Gallardo right now

I guess I didn't make myself clear. Sorry about that. What I meant was that the catching prospect the Astros gave up is better than who we would probably draft with a sandwich pick. I think the return in a trade for Gallardo would be better than getting a comp pick for him if we keep him and offer him a QO.

Hard to say. The market will dictate that, but I'd damn sure be dangling him to both the royals and Dodgers. Btw, Gallo was a compensation pick for CJ.

Yes, Gallo was definitely a good one for sure. But several of our higher position player picks have not worked out very well. I think JD's recent success in these type of deals bodes well for trading Gallardo also.

Texas has really focused on signing and drafting high ceiling guys. There's gonna be some boom and bust when that happens. I'm all for the trade if the FO feels they're getting a better return.

There's a good chance Law is jumping the gun here. He would have to be going completely on his collegiate career, and I find it hard to believe that a kid that some projected to be a late inning reliever is already ahead of JT and Ortiz.

I sure hope his psychic powers are correct though.

I don't understand your stance here. There's a possibility. Evan Grant said if Hamels is moved, it's to the Rangers, but he puts it at less than 50%.

jta, just giving you a hard time, man. I didn't really think it would ever actually happen either. But it looks like barring a last-minute change it will.

I honestly don't care how it affects things this season. I'm going to wait and see how he helps/hurts the 2016 Rangers and possibly beyond before I give my final verdict on the deal.

We have up some damn good prospects. Kept the three I absolutely did not want to trade in any deal, but gave up 4 damn good ones.
