So at this point we have to be in full on sell mode. Not sure how much guys like Canha could get us but I'd love to aim for some young arms. Even if they're ok prospects let's see if we can start developing some bullpen arms (have we ever done that?)

We won't but I'd be willing to cut bait with Scherzer, eat some salary and see if there's a team in immediate win now mode that would offer a haul.

Mets drop the finale but won the series.

Trainer's Room...

Mets RF Starling Marte was placed on the injured list because of migraines. Mets LF Tommy Pham hurt his right groin when running to first as he grounded into a double play that ended the third, then left the game. Pham said he feels some tightness and is optimistic he can avoid an IL stint. “I don’t want to give out false hope and say something and have to retract my words but I would say it’s not as bad as two weeks ago, so there’s reason to be optimistic.” … RHP Sam Coonrod (right lat strain) threw 16 pitches in his second rehab appearance with Class A St. Lucie.

Up Next...

On Friday, the Mets will be at Fenway Park when they begin a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox (51-46).
Kodai Senga (7-5, 3.20 ERA) will get the ball for New York against James Paxton (5-2, 3.51) for the Red Sox.

The next 2 weeks are gonna be real interesting to say the least with the trade deadline just 11 days away.
Not sure where the collective thought process is with the PTB, or in which direction the front office intends to go.
That said...pitching always has to be on the radar regardless...but yeah, we can sure use as much bullpen help as possible...and then some.

On Deck...

Action will pick right back up tonight with the second game of the doubleheader at 7:10 p.m. ET.
Max Scherzer (8-3, 3.99 ERA) will take the mound for New York, hoping to put together another fantastic outing after giving up just one hit and no runs in seven innings against the Dodgers his last time out. For Boston, it will be James Paxton (5-2, 3.51 ERA) on the mound who, unlike Scherzer, will be hoping to move on from his last outing in which he gave up six earned runs in three innings against the Cubs

I really don't see what's stopping the FO from calling up Mauricio at this point.
Give the guy a shot already FFS. Mendick is definitely not the answer.

The Wrap & Recap...

The Box...

The Vids...

Trainer's Room...
Mets Rookie catcher Francisco Álvarez was removed in the ninth after getting hit on the middle finger of his right hand by a 97 mph pitch from Albert Abreu. Álvarez said X-rays were negative. Umpires ruled he swung at the pitch for strike three. That came one batter after Abreu nicked Mark Vientos with a 97 mph heater. ... LF Tommy Pham sat out. He's been nursing a nagging groin. RF Starling Marte (migraines) is feeling much better. But the Mets hadn't committed yet to activating him from the 10-day injured list when he becomes eligible Thursday, manager Buck Showalter said. ... Imaging showed a Grade 2 right calf strain for INF Luis Guillorme, who is expected to miss four to six weeks. Guillorme was injured last weekend in Boston.

Up Next...

The Mets will look to win the 2023 Subway Series on Wednesday night when they finish the 2 game mini series against the Yankees in the Bronx.
Lefty José Quintana (0-1, 3.60) will take the ball for the Mets in his second start of the year against another southpaw in Carlos Rodón (0-3, 7.36) for the Yankees.
