Just finished watching the "Tuck Rule" game against the Raiders in 2002.

Simms was anti-Patriots back then and he was talking after the Ref made reference to the arm going forward and it not being a fumble.

He said Gruden would be in trouble if they lost the game on a "mis=call" because he didn't think that Brady's arm was actually going forward. They had an official available and he was the one who said that the ram was considered going forward even if the QB was tucking it into his gut.

The "Tuck Rule" was revised after the 2021 season.

It began to think about the rules that were affected because the Patriots benefited in the playoffs.

The DB contact rules were significantly changed after te Colts were manhandled by the Patriots in a divisional playoff game.
The pick was made illegal if it occurred more than one yard from the line of scrimmage because of Edelman and Gronk and Gronk and Hernandez.
After the Tuck Rule game, both teams had to have an opportunity to score in OT unless the first team made a TD
After the Patriots beat KC in overtime, the TD rule was changed, and both teams get to touch the ball in OT.

Has any other league changed so many rules because a team was so hated that they wanted them to lose the game next time if possible??

Was there a rule change regarding db/wr contact? My recollection is a change in emphasis to stricter enforcement of existing rules. Also, is it only a rumor the pats water logged the field to slow the Colts receivers?

Were some changes in reaction to the pats warranted?

Remember after the Colts game, Manning bitched like hell that Harrison and the guy were literally mugged. Irsay went ballistic at the owners meeting and the five-yard rule was adopted upon and the No Forearm Push Across the Chest was adopted. Prior to that WRs could be pushed anywhere and the DB could put his arm across the WR chest as long as he was beside him.

Irsay bitched about the grass. Remember, the league checked the field and approved the conditions before every game. Just like the balls. It had rained the entire week before that game and it was beautiful at kickoff. The sky got cloudy but no rain fell. It was slippery as hell. The real issue? The Colts brought their indoor shoes and nothing else.

No one bitched about the incredible crowd noise in Colts stadium when the opposition offense was on the field because they all planned to do the same thing the following year.

The league also wanted more offense and Manning was providing it. Until the temps dipped below forty degrees. Manning was the best of the best playing in a controlled environment. Once he had to play in in cold, wind, rain, snow or sleet, he was below average.

Don't forget Haiballs hissy fit on the NE trick play.....

  • The trick play the Patriots used against the Ravens in the playoffs will no longer be legal under an NFL rule adopted today. The league has made it illegal for an offensive player with an eligible receiver’s jersey number (1-49 and 80-89) to report as an ineligible player and line up outside the tackle box.

By the end of last season, Miami DB's were all f'd up. Unfortunately, so was our offense.
This year will be different. Revisit that sentiment after you see our new offensive gameplan in action.
I don't see a need to revisit it. By have a run oriented game plan you keep the ball out of the hands of Miami and what should be a potent offense. We do not have to the talent to try and match them point for point.

I don't think you give the D enough credit.

Not sure what STs effect will have on the game with the rule changes? Kind of hurts NE who normally (minus last years shit show) are always top notch. Bill invests a lot in players that can play STs. Could bite us in the ass.

I am not crediting or discrediting the D. What I am saying is this team is not built for a shoot out style game, and teams that have a build that allows for that has to be slowed.

Anyone watching the Saints/Chiefs??

14-0 Saints at the end of 1st. Derek Carr and Jameis Winston both have TD passes

Chiefs starters played the entire first quarter.

17-0 with 13:45 to go in the second.

Looks like the Chiefs are missing Eric Bienemy already.

Read this morning on NFLRumors:

Dolphins are going 'balls to the wall' to get Johnathan Taylor from the Colts. (I was surprised to read that Taylor is only 24)

Dolphins are in serious negotiations with the Cardinals for Josh Jones.

The Fins are really going for it. They've traded, purchased and signed a bunch of guys since the season began. They shouldn't be ignored.

No one was ignoring them, in fact I saw a lot of reports which had them winning the AFCE.

This is the 2nd Rams game I’ve watched. Boy oh boy does Stetson Bennett suck ass. 4-9 for 14 yards and 2 interceptions. I know someone on here @BigKen said he would use our 1st round pick on him. And he puts Belichick down for his draft/GM skills.

So I was wrong.

BB still sucks at drafting skill positions.

Did Anyone Else Get An EMAIL Last Night?

I received a legal notice in my email last night.

I have been asked to join a class action lawsuit that's been filed against the NFL.

It's also against NFL SUNDAY TICKET.

Why should surrounding areas of a home NFL football telecast be given free access to games if they are not in that city?

People across the country are suing because they have to pay You Tube to get You Tube TV in order to get Sunday Ticket and previously had to pay for DirecTV in order to get Sunday Ticket. What if DirecTV was not available in your area?

Here's the notice:
UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE CENTRAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA
SUMMARY NOTICE OF PENDING CLASS ACTION

If you purchased NFL Sunday Ticket, a class action
lawsuit may affect your rights.

This Notice is being provided by order of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of
California. It is not a solicitation from a lawyer. You are not being sued.

NOTICE OF PENDING CLASS ACTION
A class action lawsuit is pending in the United States District Court for the Central District of California that alleges that the NFL and the 32 NFL teams have suppressed competition for the sale of professional football game telecasts in violation of the Sherman Act. The name of the case is In re National Football League’s “Sunday Ticket” Antitrust Litigation, Case No. 2:15-ml-02668-PSG (JEMx).

This lawsuit involves NFL Sunday Ticket, an out-of-market sports viewing package that provides NFL regular-season games unavailable on local television affiliates. Football fans who are not NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers can view only locally available games each Sunday afternoon, but Sunday Ticket subscribers can view both locally available games and out-of-market games. Plaintiffs claim that absent the allegedly anticompetitive agreements at issue, the telecasts available on Sunday Ticket would be available through other means, which would result in more access to telecasts of NFL games at lower prices. The Court has appointed the law offices of Susman Godfrey L.L.P., Hausfeld LLP, and Langer Grogan and Diver PC as class counsel.

No money or benefits are available now because the lawsuit is not resolved. There is no guarantee that money or benefits ever will be available. If they are, you will be notified about how to ask for a share of any recovery. Unless you exclude yourself or your business from the lawsuit, you or your business will be bound by the outcome of the case and you will not be able to file a lawsuit or be part of any lawsuit against Defendants concerning or relating to the claims and allegations that were or could have been raised in this lawsuit.
LITIGATION CLASS DEFINITION

PRODUCTION OF PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION
Pursuant to the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act of 2010, 47 U.S.C. § 338, we are also notifying you and other current and former DIRECTV subscribers that DIRECTV has been ordered by the United States District Court for the Central District of California in the case discussed in this notice and captioned In re National Football League’s Sunday Ticket Antitrust Litigation, No. 2:15-ml-02668-PSG-JEM, to produce certain information from DIRECTV’s records to the Court-appointed class counsel (the lawyers representing Plaintiffs), that contain personally identifiable information. The information—which will be kept “Highly Confidential” under the protective order in the Sunday Ticket litigation, will not be shared publicly, and will be used only to further notify class members about the litigation and effectuate any settlement or judgment—includes the subscribers’ names, addresses, account numbers, dates of service, telephone numbers, and email addresses connected to the account. DIRECTV has not yet provided this information to the Court-appointed class counsel, and to date has provided only contact information to the Notice Administrator sufficient to effectuate this Notice. But DIRECTV will provide this information to Court-appointed class counsel on October 15, 2023.

But you (or your business) will keep your right to file your own lawsuit against the Defendants for damages concerning or relating to the claims and factual allegations that were or could have been raised in this action.

Do Nothing: If you do nothing, you or your business will be bound by the outcome of the case, whether a judgment is rendered for or against Defendants.
