I was planning on starting with 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1K 1Flex, then we can figure what we want from that.

I don't know what happened with the top league, so I can't comment on that. I do think you are misinterpreting Joe's point though.

The format does not matter if you have good people. Once you get those people, start with a standard scoring system and vote on changes from there.

That is my take, anyway. Does not have to be standard scoring, but I do think it helps to start with that simply to get things moving. From there, you simply decide a voting standard that you need to change a rule (I usually do 2/3 majority) and then you go from there. if things start off too crazy, then a few will probably end up dropping

Not going to change my vote, but yes. Decimal scoring is a good thing.

but i do think this democratic process is a failure in fantasy... If someone just said HERE ARE THE RULES, then we would all just say whether we are in or out... there would be no debating... no fighting, and the league would just either happen or not...

We had our moments last year and we got through them. We will figure it out for this league.

Nah. The original dynasty was set up democratically. It took quite a while, with many many polls, but it went smoother than I ever thought it could.

I think we can write IDP, Superflex, and no bench off. Most likely I shouldn't have started us off with the issue that is split the most, but what is done is done.

Now we can figure out what type of roster we want and the points system. I say we do it planning on having 16 teams, and when it is all done we see who wants to do the league.

I am good either way, but like Milk said if we do one it would be redundant to do both.(PPR and 1st Downs)
We did First Downs in the playoff league last year and it was actually a good stat. Just have to do INC Passes to bring the QBs down a little.

Or also reward QBs with first down points.

The way the scoring was done in that playoff league was a point for a running/receiving/ or passing FD. But you lost a point for an INC pass.

We could ignore the INC pass, but IMO it would overvalue the QB.
