Shoes are a bigger deal in Basketball, but yes it could spread to football.

First reaction was

Shit, Nebraska is an Adidas School.
Then I remembered what their recruiting rankings are and figured they are safe. If not, they're doing it wrong.

I could see that being the case. But I still doubt that it will.

I'm sure that it could. But one would think that if it was going to happen, they would have folded everything into one.

We never have any good news in basketball.

None of our coaches were involved. Just when that ray of light, that the admin
would be forced to clean house, flitters away.

Not sure how it would. Getting one recruit can change a program and a company. One recruit doesn't win a title in football and is a college football player is a horrible investment for a company.

The AAU to college to pro shoe deal connection doesn't exist in football, thank God.

Your words show wisdom.

BUT...this independent 7 on 7 crap is starting to rival the AAU and their street agents.

Down here...Many schools gather their skill players and compete in a couple of 7 on 7
tourney's in the summer. I don't have an issue with that.

BUT, when players gather from different teams for a private 7 on 7 team...that reeks of
being crooked.

During this press conference, on satellite radio, Rick Neuheisel talked about recruiting a kid from Seattle while he was at UCLA in the 1980s.

He said there was definitely something wrong with what was going down and there was a huge taint to it. The kid did not go to UCLA.

Yes, it could carry over to just about all sports at the collegiate level. But with the amount of money that apparel companies and TV broadcasters are paying the schools and conferences and NCAA, it is a complete wink wink.

One day, I hope some head coach comes clean on just how dirty it is. We know, they know we know it, but as long as the cash rolls in it is a non-issue.

It is an absolute certainty that the Feds will be smack dab in the middle of a major college football scandal at some point in the future. It's what the Feds do. They involve themselves in things that are often questionable while at the same time they let other well publicized transgressions slide for any number of reasons. However, sports is just too juicy of a target for the Feds to pass up the temptation to rain holy hell on someone someday. It's coming. The only question is who will be the target.

Of course money changes hands for football as well. It's nothing new. Will there be any traceable line directly to Adidas staff? I really doubt it, but no one can rule it out. I'm assuming the basketball and football branches of Adidas marketing are different staffs. This would have to go a lot higher to cross sports then.

I do know if I was a fan of a program that is an Adidas school I'd be nervous as hell about now. These defendants named today are facing charges that could be up to 80 years in jail. There's no way in hell all of them are going to protect anyone else around them at this point. They quite literally have nothing else to lose now. FBI has opened tip lines as well. Information is going to poor in.

For now we can just sit back and laugh at the roundball programs.

Why aren't the players named. They're just as guilty for taking the money.
