This week the NASCAR dog and pony show is in Michigan for the Pure Michigan 400. Don;t know if I'll get the time to watch the race.

Nascar confiscated the splitters on the #2 and #22. I'd say Brad and Joey are going to be without their crew chiefs for a while.

David Ragan can't even get through the first lap without spinning out. Caution is out.

Although I think they should probably be increasing drag on the front end rather than having huge spoilers.

If they increase the drag to take away the aero advantage of clean air and then go to a soft tire where drivers have to actually take care of them - the racing would be much improved I think. Then the person behind a car gets a bit of an advantage instead of the car in front.

But that means making the front less aerodynamic, rather than the rear.

Another caution with just 11 laps. Somebody reached down on the floor and threw out some junk. Debris on the track.

This change was supposedly done to feature the driver's skills. Apparently NASCAR has perceived people want to see more of the driver that the car. Stupid is has stupid does as the saying goes.

Kenseth has checked out because these cars run fine in open air but nobody can drive in the pack because there is no downforce on the front end and right rear.

Nobody gets too close to a car on the side because the aero is lost by getting too close-the move that Earnhardt made so famous. The cars are staying separated which is what NASCAR wanted. So this is like the racing used to be with everyone spread out in long lines.
