Most Overrated Matches of All-Time

I know we've got some good old school talk in here before. Figure this could be a fun one.

What is a match that the general public thought was good that you know was overrated?

I'll lead off with HBK/Diesel at WM11.

First of all, it was a terrible card, so the fact that this was the only decent match on the card gave it a nice bump...the comparisons were awful. So it only SEEMED to be that much better.

Two. It was pretty slow paced and showed very little strategy minus a couple of rib shots by HBK after Diesel messed up after the idiot camera guy got in the way.

Three. Too much celebrity stuff and multiple cameramen got in the way of the match.

Four. Ridiculous finish with Sid giving HBK his advantage and then the Hebner getting hurt thing. HBK hitting the mat was also ridiculous.

And the closing argument. The fans were chanting "Sid!" during the world title bout, at a wrestlemania...and Sid was the damn bodyguard.

The crowd was pretty quiet during this one.

And the fact that this got match of the year over Bret/Diesel at 95 survivor series is an abomination. That was a clinic on big/little matchups with no holds barred.

Either Lesnar/Taker( take your pick)or WCW VS NWO ( bash at the beach 1996).

I think Benoit Angle(Royal Rumble 2004) is the most underrated

Ok now I know you’re picking a fight...(re:nwo)....

In terms of match quality? Sure. Not great.

But I’m nktbsure it can ever be on this list For me due to historical significance.

It kicked off the single greatest story in pro wrestling with the biggest and most shocking heel turn ever.

But it was another example of how wcw made sure everyone on team wcw looked like complete idiots and totally inept 99% of the time. Frankly it would’ve made more sense to the story of Sting was the one who got injured early on. That would’ve only helped him when he came back as the unstoppable force.

Totally fair. I didn’t realize people had it rated high for the match quality tbh.
