Who do you think the Tigers should take first overall in the MLB Draft in June? Not who do you think they will take, but who should they?

Seems inevitable at this point that it will be Torkelson. And it does sound like he's a great prospect. I just feel like taking a 1B at #1 overall seems risky, especially when a guy like Martin hits so well and plays all over the field. But time will tell, I'll certainly be rooting for Tork to succeed!

I get the logic for taking Torkelsen. He’s the safe bet to be a useful productive ML bat. But they should take the risk on the highest potential and draft Zac Veen. With the added plus that they can probably underslot him and target a tough sign at #38

That said I won’t be at all surprised if Gonzalez turns out to be the best player from this class.

The Tigers, who hold the first pick in the 2020 draft, are working on a contract with Spencer Torkelson, according to Lynn Henning.
Tigers GM Al Avila hasn't confirmed his choice to kick off the draft, but Torkelson has long been the favorite to go first overall. Torkelson hit .337/.463/.729 with 54 homers in his 129 games for Arizona State over the last three years. He played some outfield in college, but first base figures to be his long-term home

Yeah, they're definitely taking Torkelson. I was wondering who people thought they SHOULD take, not necessarily who they thought they WOULD take.

not loving the Yorke pick. Even if it was an underslot pick, it feels like a pretty big reach. Would have much rather had Garrett Mitchell or Jordan Westburg.

I'd love the Jays pick.

Your sitting at #5. Everyone's who mocks #2 still there.

In a heartbeat.

And he could even play outfield which their needs is a need for us

i cant believe the Jays got Martin.

If these guys all pan out the Jays are going to have a scary lineup in a few years

Martin was an absolute steal. I was kinda hoping the Tigers took him at #1. I heard that Martin might be difficult to sign though since he dropped to #5.

I thought he had a shot to go #1. Was surprised to see him slip down to 5.

Surprised the Yanks didn't go for a college pitcher, specifically a LH-definitely a system weakness.

Love the bat on Austin Wells, but I don't see him sticking at catcher. For whatever reason, they love to draft guys like that.

Maybe they don't intend on him catching? He could profile at 1B or LF. I think it's a good pick, and he hit very well in the Cape Cod League.

I think they might not. They've taken a ton of guys like this the last few years-good bats, suspect positions.

He's getting comped to Kyle Schwarber, who the Yanks have coveted from afar for years. This is actually the 2nd time they've drafted him.

Speaking of long-coveted, Yankees with no 2nd round pick thanks to the Cole signing.

Counting their wasted 2008 first rounder, that's 2 picks now that Cole has cost them.

He better be worth it.
