The Mets have signed OF Bobby Abreu to a minor-league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 40-year-old outfielder was in camp with the Phillies this spring, and hit .244 with a .404 OBP.
Abreu last played in the major leagues in 2012 with the Dodgers and Angels, appearing in 100 games with 257 plate appearances. He hit .242 with a .350 OBP, three home runs and 24 RBI.
Abreu played for Mets hitting coach Dave Hudgens in Venezuela in Winter Ball (DiComo, March 31).
