Im not sure either. Best rotation and BP in years. Oh and BTW, Oakland's division lead had been cut to 4 and we are tied for the wild card spot

Yeah I think we can make it up having better defense in the outfield. Also if guys keep hitting like they have been

Absolutely not happening.

no it's not. I'm not sure he'll move there next year anymore....maybe 1st base, which I have always said makes more sense with his skill set. Still a waste of his talent, but it makes a lot more sense than the OF

Very true, but I doubt he will be at 1st base unless Moreland stops hitting

I agree Lainey. Faith is not the question. How deep does the water get before you have to swim? Remove his HR and RBI'S and the water gets deep in a hurry.

Right, it's why I've been sweating this thing for about a week now, just when we start turning things around...

oh boy.

Its all about getting hot. Obviously it will get alot harder if Cruz is out and we won't have any outside help (except maybe through waivers), but look what the we did in 2010. We overcame and won a division no one thought possible. No one though we would get past Tampa Bay or the Yankees but we did. This year is far from over, its just about how we execute and when we do it. Momentum is on our side guys, and I think the winds of fortune are changing in our favor
And we may get Cruz back for any playoff games. We just need to secure it. JD needs to scrounge the waiver wire thoroughly. They will be a good ball player falling through the cracks.

Is Moreland hitting well enough though? He's been disappointing since his injury, not saying MM can't turn it around...
I guess we'll find over the winter
My crazy preference would be to have OF's play the OF.

:)

If Cruz goes down we (theoretically) could get him back 9-10 games before the playoffs. Just maybe he gets his swing back during that time. I still don't think he goes down, but I always tend to look on the bright side of things, and this looks like it could be one of those moments if Cruz is suspended

but do we know if it's an automatic 50? they aren't going by the failed testing rules, maybe Cruz will plead it down?

What about Soto? His sudden resurgence gives us another power bat. We can keep him at DH and let him catch every once and a while to keep his bat in the lineup

You're better off letting him catch more. He's a better defensive catcher than AJ.

I heard if he tried to appeal then he might get docked 100 games for arguing. I'm not sure if they can do that, but I don't know if I would test that myself

All the better, but still check the wire, JD. We will know when and how much tomorrow.

I have never thought Ian's size would suffice at 1st base. He appears to short and would not be able to stretch on short hops. Am I wrong?

True, but AJ works really well with the younger pitchers. Not saying the Soto can't do just as well, but I think you split time (or give AJ slightly more reps) to keep chemistry up

Exactly. Given How much Braun pleaded down his sentence Cruz should be able to do the same.

Soto has done a pretty damn good job with all our pitchers.

Even if Cruz only pleads it down to 40 it would be a huge victory ( in my opinion). Gives him enough time to get his groove back just in time for the playoffs

That's not how it works. They hand down their sentence and regardless of whether he appeals or not that's the sentence.
