Lakers will never do that trade. They're only going to offer 2 of 3 which won't be good enough even with a draft pick

We're talking about if Kawhi comes out to say he's not signing anywhere but LA in 2019.

In which case 2 out of 3 of the guys the Lakers might offer is still going to be the best on the table.

And kawhi who doesn't speak will never come out and say that.

Also like with PG laast year, why would you trade your young guys if you're so sure kawhi signs next summer. Can easily wait til next year and sign him for free without losing anyone.

There's not much pressure on the lakers to compete for a title this upcoming season

That's pretty much already happened and the Spurs don't care.

They are in no rush to trade him in June.

Carmelo wanted to go to the Rockets and maybe the Cavs.

Once he realized the Knicks weren't eating that Shit deal of Ryan Anderson, he expanded his list.

If Kawhi really wants out and the Spurs are dead set on not sending him West, he will eventually do the same.

All depends on a huge number of factors. But nothing is set in stone as we haven't heard from Kawhi personally yet. So far it's all rumors.

Yeah, this is not Joel Embiid we are talking about.

His camp already leaked this shit trying to pressure the Spurs before the draft...

They took their best shot, it didn't work.

Th Spurs have until the deadline...

If that's the case, it'st just rumors that he wants to be a Lakers.

I mean, did you hear that come from his mouth personally?

The Spurs stance seems pretty clear.

From their own mouths, they are looking to heal the relationship to keep him.

They have until February to get that done.

Exactly. No need to be in rush as Cleveland was last summer. You have the guy under your belts for another year.

He's not very outspoken.

I don't think it is crazy that he changes his mind and signs the super max before the season.

Pop worked magic with Aldridge so he can possibly do the same with Leonard

I completely agree. But the Spurs will be stuck between a rock and a hard place if he's absolutely determined to leave. Even more so if he's ruling out every team but the Lakers.

They might have to if they expect the Spurs to take the Deng contract.

Depends. If Kawhi publicly comes out and says he's signing in LA in 2019 no matter what, something Paul George didn't actually do last year, I highly doubt the Sixers and Celtics with their progressing young core will offer the Spurs anything worth their attention.

If he comes out publicly and says that he will only play for the Lakers, the league is going to take a very dim view of that situation.

I agree with that too.

And again, it's not me coming up with this.

They won't.

They will be stuck picking between the lesser of the two evils.

It's naive to believe that other teams won't make offers.

How good they are is the question.

Boston and Philly have better assets than the Lakers.

They can easily outbid you but they won't.

The Spurs have to decide to take the best deal or to take less to get him out of the West.

George did the same thing last year.

Everyone knew he planned to sign with the Lakers.

He still got traded elsewhere.

I think it would be helluva uncomfortable for him to start the Season on that roster WITHOUT taking the extension.

But, I honestly believe it could happen.

George never personally said he was going to Lakers in the summer. There were rumors.

And to be fair, neither has Kawhi yet - it's all tabloid gossip so far.

Would you want your team to give up a couple of your best young players in order for a 1 year rental? The Sixers and Celtics would be insane to do that.

Look, I agree what everyone has been saying. I believe Kawhi is screwing the Spurs and that he should just put up with his last season on contract and then do what he wants in free agency without putting his organisation is a bad position right now.

Just saying at the same time, if the Lakers offer the Spurs the best package that would benefit the organisation the most in a bad-case scenario, the Spurs would be petty not to accept it just because 'they're the Lakers'.
