I'm convinced. He's just been phenomenal for a rookie who skipped almost every level. And the passion and enthusiasm he brings makes him someone I would enjoy seeing around for a long time.

Hopefully, these two are together here in Miami to make many more great moments like this.

Jose Fernandez’s outstanding rookie season will come to a premature end, as Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald reports that the Marlins plan to shut the 20-year-old rookie down once he reaches around 170 innings.
Coming into the season the Marlins talked about limiting Fernandez to 150-170 innings, but he’s been so good that they’re willing to stretch that a little bit if needed. Still, he’s already thrown 105 innings and is on pace to throw about 185, so he’s going to miss some starts at some point.
Fernandez made the jump from Single-A to the majors after throwing 134 innings in the minors last season, so the Marlins are being smart by limiting his workload in a non-contending season. His future is extremely bright and Fernandez made his first All-Star team by throwing 105 innings with a 2.75 ERA and 103/40 K/BB ratio in the first half.

Yup, knew this would happen from the outset (remember reading about the 170 mark around the first week of the season). Agree that it's the right thing to do, don't want to risk any major injuries.

He is just incredible to watch. Curveball, fastball and his command is all incredible. So glad in his last start of the season he hit a home run.

Absolute stud. ROY and it's not even close... if it weren't for Kershaw he'd be getting some very series CY Young consideration.

Traded him away back in April in my sim league. Probably gonna really hurt. Got David Price back and he was a big help for this season (2012) where I am leading the entire league so far while Fernandez would have been a zero, but it's still gonna hurt. I'm not the type to wish misfortune on a guy that I traded away though. But it makes me real sad every time I watch him. Oh well, just have to make this season count and hope that Price has some more great years in him too.
