4pm start time today coming off that bitt kicking Tuesday against the Sabres.

Couple notes:

- Arvdisson activated from IR and should make his debut tonight, Grundstrom and The Lizard placed on LTIR to make the numbers work to allow Arvidsson back in. Cap gymnastics in full effect. He's going straight to his RW2 position with Moore and Dunno, the line changes we discussed look like they'll be in action tonight

- Hoven said Clarke will likely be assigned back to the AHL, considering how high pressure each game is getting as we get through the final games, doesn't do him any good watching but because they shat the bed so hard for 25% of the season (4-9-6 last 19 games) they can't let him learn on the job at this point. Wasn't a real difference maker either when he did play, he is still a bit away from becoming an NHL regular

- NJ has some high octane players, this will be a defensive challenge. After what we saw Tuesday leaving Rittich out to dry basically, the Kings absolutely have to lock down the defensive zone and also get saves. I'm assuming Rittich will go again and Talbot Saturday against the Bruins

- which brings me to systems changes. After the ASG, the Devils switched up their swarming defense strategy to more of one the Kings used during the Cups: keep two D in front of the net and swing the C down low to help protect the middle. It's worked, they haven't given much up since (something like 9 goals in 4 games. Impressive). The Kings will need to penetrate the middle and fight to the front and get some ugly goals. Don't think rush chances will really produce anything. It's interesting Ruff made such a drastic change in their structure mid season, usually doesn't happen. Look at LA alone with Hiller and keeping everything intact

Hoping the can of whoopass opened on them was embarrassing enough to show a much better effort and move up the ice 5 man unit mentality. I don't think I've seen that type of disjointed junk in some time. Seemed like each guy played selfish and didn't use their teammates well if at all.

Have to get a win here today, doesn't get easier going into Boston on Saturday but one step at a time, one shift at a time, one period at a time. Stroganoff and mushrooms for dinner tonight.

Let's Go Kings!

Kings playing the LTIR shuffle.
Blake is going to be forced into a bad trade for cap space, I fear. Clarke doesn’t need to clear waivers, so he will be sent back down soon. Kings might have to play with a short bench for cap reasons.

You would think g m's would figure out that cap space and more importantly , cap management is about the most important part of their job

Pretty good period by LA but still no score. Their play has slipped during this 19 game skid, but also contributing is a horrific team shooting percentage. That has to regress and improve but a factor why they may be controlling play but not getting leads or able to score.

22/11/55 doesn't look too bad, I'm just glad Jill is changing things up and not being a stubborn clown refusing to try things out. Would like to see PLD elevated though into the T6.

Shortytar, nice follow up. That seems to be Kempe's go to move if he has the puck and room on the right wing, Jack Hughes got caught puck watching and not realizing Kopitar was right behind him.

Glad they got it, seems like the Kings are having to claw for every goal they get recently.

Devils turning it up, no time to fall apart now. Still time left so the intermission is a ways, sustained pressure, even a few shifts.

Rittich needs to take whistles, NJ pressuring after that PP goal.

My fear is they're going to get goalied. Daws has been unreal. Rittich has been good too, but the Kings seem to have had a lot more high quality chances.

Let's just hope they don't get the barn doors blown off them against Boston.
