I knew about Mississippi Valley State way back when they were scoring over 60 and 70 points a game beating up on Grambling, Jackson State, Alcorn etc etc. They ran a run and gun offense, QB Willie Totten throwing to five wide receivers, only used a RB in short yardage. One of those receivers, Jerry Rice.
I kept up with that season just out of curiousity being a big HBCU fan, bummer was no MVS on tv.
It was Christmas day and the old Blue vs Grey All Star game, I had my chips and dip, a Dr. Pepper when the Grey took the field, so who was out there at WR.....Jerry "World" Rice and he didn't disappoint. Keep in mind now he was burning big schools guys, and he scorched them, put on a show.
I do think that MVS team could have hung with the big schools that season.
There is no position in football where a player is so far dominate as Jerry Rice is at WR. Nobody remotely close to him'
