The wheels are gonna fall off next year. I don't see how they survive that schedule against the vikings, packers, lions, chargers, chiefs, raiders, panthers, and cowboys. Not to mention their own division with two emerging teams and they can't even sweep the other one. No one wants to even think about it but Seattle will be below .500.

All of that sounds reasonable, but I think Seattle is going to go ahead and plan to play the games anyhow.

Depends on your level of belief in Jimmy, I personally think he's the next great in this league.......Not sure what kinda upgrades they made around him, cause they were much needed

I believe Jimmy has the goods to be an above average QB. I think he did really well last year when given a team that was trashed and had zero pressure on him. I think next year he is going to have an exponential amount more pressure on him based on all this hype and that massive new contract.

Let's see how he handles actually having something on the line and living up to that contract. Many players before him have crumbled under that weight.

I just judge him by his skills and he has so much Rodgers in him, with his accuracy on the move...I think his skillset, and of course the results have shown, he will be great

They have massive holes on defense yet overreach on a RB in the first round

Makes no sense

Their leading rusher last year was their QB, an not by a little.

So, hey, fire away with your opinions but if you're going to do that, at least make them valid ones.

They MIGHT have a decent RB on the roster in Carson, you know the guy that suffered the gruesome leg/ligament injury last year?

But hey, we're used to Seattle's draft getting universally panned,

We were all in denial all those other times too.

FFS people. Could Seattle have another 'down' year next year? Aboslutely. Their 'run' is now over? WTF does that even mean? They still have Wilson as their QB.

They did need a RB but that's no Lynch.

Marshawn Lynch wasn't available, so don't draft a RB?

Wonder why the Pats and Belichek wanted him?

I hope like hell he comes back 100%.

Hopes and dreams ain't a way to run an NFL franchise though. Kinda' like NY hoping and dreaming that Eli is going to reverse his regression...

I dont think they believe Eli will reverse the regression, I think they are just hoping an improved Oline, a healthy WR corps, and hopefully a world class RB will make him at least productive enough

Meh, I think they'll be in the playoff hunt this year, but will likely fall short. 8-8 or 9-7.

Now that the internal problems are getting cleared up they can focus on rebuilding as a group. Pete Carroll is a good coach and will get this team back on track.

Regression is a bitch then, because it means the line continues to slope down. Given that Eli's weakness has always been turnovers, that's going to make winning hard.

Their schedule is absolutely brutal too

My expectations are not very high

Most rationale Hawk fans understand that its likely a 7-9 win year considering how deep the NFC looks. I still think with Wilson and enough talent on defense they could possibly sneak into a playoff spot but that's likely the ceiling. 2018 was always gonna be a tough year given the lack of cap space and draft picks. A lot of that gets better so if some the young players get some good experience this year, they could be in a lot better shape going into 2019.

I wasn't expecting it either but I trust Carroll a lot more to mold a defense then an offense. They haven't hit on a RB of any kind unless you count trading for Lynch in forever. I can live with it given its likely a transition year but its extremely risky no doubt.

What I don't get is why everyone seems to think the 49ers are going to be good
Yea the Jimmy G hype train is barreling down the train tracks. Still think that team has as much holes if not more then the Hawks but we will see how it plays out

The "massive holes in the defense" is quite a stretch. Our back end is decent with Earl, McDougal, Griffin and Maxwell, LB's are still stop notch with KJ and Bobby, and the D-line is thin but still has playmakers up there with Clark and Dion Jordon. Seattle lost a lot of big names, but not necessarily big production.

Seattle has had some pretty underwhelming drafts in recent years, and I think it catches up with them. I agree with the OP.

Not sure you want to use the Patriots as a reason a first round RB pick was a good idea. First of all, they divide the RB reps among 3-4 players and are typically drafting role players. Plus, they rarely draft RBs early:

2014 4.130 James White
2011 2.56 Shane Vereen
2011 3.73 Stevan Ridley
2007 6.208 Justise Hairston
2006 1.21 Lawrence Maroney
2004 4.128 Cedric Cobbs
2003 7.234 Spencer Nead (FB)
2002 7.237 Antoine Womack
2000 3.76 JR Redmond
1999 2.46 Kevin Faulk
1998 1.18 Robert Edwards
1998 3.81 Chris Floyd
1997 3.61 Sedrick Shaw
1996 4.124 Kantroy Barber
1996 6.195 Marrio Greer
1995 3.74 Curtis Martin
1995 6.195 Dino Philyaw

23 years since drafting Curtis Martin, and they only kept him for 3 years. They have not been a team that builds around a 3 down back through the draft.
