no one outside of Shitcago cares about the 85 Bears or even the 2015 Bears. The only ones that compare defenses to the 85 Bears are Bears fans as well. There have been a few defenses since then that have had just as good of numbers if not better so take your bullshit back to the Bears board

What is the difference between Marty McFly and a Bear's fan?

Marty McFly will eventually leave 1985 :suds:

Name me 3 players from that team? without looking them up. I bet you could name half that 85 Chi team and your not even a Bear fan.

You might have a point when discussing football lore to the generation of Packers fans who never saw anyone but Favre or Rodgers under center, but don't think for a moment that the older generation of not only Packer fans, but fans of the NFL don't remember some of the stand out teams in the 60's. I could rattle off at least a dozen names from those teams, but you no doubt will think I Googled the name so I won't bother.

I don't think anyone has discounted the 85 Bears team for what they were but to counter that thought with the idea that the Packers do not have any memorable teams is preposterous.

No what I said is that 85 Bear team is remembered better. Not that the Packer teams were not great also. None of this crap really matters anyway. Were going for that no.1 pick and you guys are playing for a SB. Rep the N well boys. Good luck

I was born just after the Lombardi era... grew up with Packers of mid/late 70s and 80s. Did not like the Bears of the mid 80´s, but I am not blinded by that fact and can admit the 85 Bears had a great defense and are often remembered and compared to other great defenses since then.

I was happy to see the Bears win the Super Bowl that year (since they were in the Super Bowl).. Payton deserved a ring (he also deserved to score in the game). I was extremely happy when Miami beat Bears on Monday Night in 1985... undefeated season would have been hard to live with afterwards :D

It's too bad the Dolphins choked in the playoffs that year. Would have been a great rematch in the Super Bowl. Certainly better than the asskicking we saw the Pats take.

(Yes, I was smart assing a guy back. Sometimes smack talk happens between fans of different teams. It's rare but it does happen.)

When they rename this the Mike Ditka Roller Skating in the Hump Dome Trophy, come back and then you will have some ground to stand on.

I always wondered why they named it the Lombardy trophy. It should not have a name as it belongs to who ever wins the SB that year. And who is Stanley also.

I said I don't know why they named the SB trophy after any one as it belongs to who wins that year. I know who Lambardy is, or did I spell it wrong?

Lombardi is known as one of the greatest coaches if not the greatest of all time. When the merger between leagues happened the 1960s era Packers were the premier team and dynasty of the time. Him winning the first two Super Bowls cemented his legacy therefore why it's named after him. This also validates why the 1985 Bears are not more well known than the 60's Packers. Dynasty trumps one hit wonder any day of the week and twice on Sundays

Football in the early 60's really does not apply in today's world. Nor does 85. This is a new game and not as good IMO. It's all about the QB now it used to be a team game.

What does that have to do with it being named the Lombardi trophy?

Lombardi is not connected to today's game. Look i'm not dissing Lombardi, I just think the SB trophy does not need a name connected to any one team.

I'm not going down that road of erasing history. It's there for a reason.
