Cooper won a lot of games but couldn't get over the hump with the important ones. Les had entered that same boat. We had seen it with other teams as well. Georgia-Richt, Tennessee-Fulmer, Michigan-Carr.

Lets remember that Carr retired. He wasnt fired

Fanbases and schools that allow wealthy boosters to dictate the AD tend to get drunk from success when everything is rolling, but they lose a couple and they start screaming to fire everyone. Oregon is dealing with that right now as well. Your already hearing their fans and media talking about regime changes which is utterly ridiculous, but it goes to show what happens when you get drunk on some success.

As for LSU, good luck with that. Heard that the only candidates your considering worthy of your greatness is Herman or Fisher. That's one hell of a gamble to make. Ask Michigan how it worked out for them when they "forcibly retired" Carr.

Carr's contract came up and the University refused to offer him another contract. He was forced into retirement. Don't pretend like it was Carr's decision, the University decided to allow him to save face and "retire" rather than be officially fired.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Miles. Some traditional power team like Penn State that's going to be looking for another coach (probably) could pick up Miles and get a huge steal.

Miles needed to go plain and simple. If your boss tells you to make a change in your work and you don't, you deserved to be fired. He wanted Cam Cameron he got what he deserved. Like Miles as a guy, but he sucks as a coach. Appreciate all he's done, but he had to go.

Fans/boosters are seeing all these high scoring offenses, and they want one! It's like keepin up with the Jones's

No one wants a smothering defense anymore, they want fireworks on offense. They want points, touchdowns, 500 yards a game.

I dont like the flag football mentality that's taking over the game, but not a damn thing I can do about it.

Who the hell wants to be a defensive coordinator anymore? You go play a traditional power team, well you can hang. Go play a Mickey mouse team with a Mickey mouse offense, 6 WOs running cris/cross rubbing patterns 85 plays a game, and it's a nightmare. But the fans love it.

Basketball on grass.
