Game Thread: Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders

If the rumors are true, and the Raiders are truly sour on Carr for whatever reason, should we be interested in trying to salvage his career. Can Kubiak fix him? And if the rumors are true, can Shanny fix him?

Denver does not need to develop a QB. Just needs improved QB play. Right now we are a D student at the QB position. Below average. We don't need to get an A student. We need a B student. I think Carr with the right OC is a B student.

Young, quality QB hell yes. It also frees up the draft . Chasing a QB sucks for an organization.

That and we’ve seen too much turnover at QB since Manning retired. I think the right OC can coax a 2005 Broncos-like offense together with Keenum-Lindsay-Freeman filling the roles of Plummer-Anderson-Bell. A run heavy offense with an efficient passing game playing opposite a lights out defense (which we don’t necessarily have anymore) can still win games in this league.

I don’t think the team is that far off. I really don’t. But it will take the right leadership to get them there. Someone who’s willing to look at film and say “Keenum does this really well, let’s find ways to work it into the game plan” instead of “I like this set of plays, who cares that my QB isn’t built for that style of offense!”

There are a lot of pieces on this roster that suggest a competitive team isn’t that far away. There are some bright spots at DL, we may be able to retain Shaq, and hopefully we’ll get to see if Holland can be the next depth guy that other teams would love to have as a starter. Davis and Jewell look like solid options at MLB. We need to shore up the secondary, but we may have a front 7 that is top flight next year.

On offense we still need a TE who can contribute for a complete season, and there is still work to do on the line. The talent at WR is serviceable if the Broncos commit to a run heavy offense. And of course, Keenum is an option at QB that can tie all of that together. Again: with the right leadership.

All of that is a better post for the offseason discussion more so than this discussion about the Raiders.

Case is a waste of a season
He put up the same stats as Trevor in 2016. You can see now why Minny never felt like Case was this answer even after going 11-3.

Denver needs to get to the playoffs because After the wildcard round it’s may turn into a fluke play here or there to win the game.

I thought Case would be better but he can’t stress a defense , can’t read a defense and drifts out of the play inside of climbing the ladder .

Bradley Chubb is 2.5 sacks away from tying the rookie sack record .. Three sacks and he gets the record all to himself ..

What makes this even more impressive is that Chubb had one 1.5 through the first 5 games ..

With the playoffs out of reach, I think this might be a point of interest for the defense - I can see Von Miller especially wanting this for Chubb ..

Every game we've got guys after the QB, but this one might be special ...

I know Case is not the answer and after 3 years of sucking the QB has to pull us out

Why did my choice of rooting for Denver or not turn into what Elway wants?

I like chocolate chip cookies, LGM likes snickerdoodle, who cares? We are different people.

What I cheer to root for and against isn’t up for debate, that’s my choice.

In the present I like thr feeling of winning in the future come draft day I appreciate that we lost. Doesn’t matter who I root for. I have no control in the actual outcome. It’s not like Denver’s chances of winning increase if I cheer for them behind my TV, so might as well have fun in the present and hope for good things.

I could never sit there and cheer against the Broncos ... But in a situation like this, the sting of a loss doesn;t hang around for like 5 days ( sometimes more depending on the game ) - with a loss, at least now there is a bit of "I'll enjoy April a little more" feeling ..

Some Bronco losses never go away .. some of 'em, just random games

There was one vs the Dolphins back in 2002 where Jay Fiedler threw a pass that went thru John Mobley's outstretched arms in the final minute and led to an Olindo Mare FG with like 5 seconds left for a 24-22 Miami win ..

The game that is under my skin is the 5+ quarter playoff game against the Ravens. It stings a little more given I was sitting in the stands and doing my best to not become an icicle.
