As long as America gets out to vote (even more than they did in 2020), Trump will not get a second term. If people decide to stay home, yeah there's a chance the orange menace will win.

Pretty much a trend in the US one party gets lazy and doesn't vote and magically we get stuck with this mess.

@mattola - > if you are referring to the supreme court ruling on him not being on the CO ballot? That was actually 9-0 vote because, for once the Supreme Court did their job and ruled on how the law was written. Would be nice if they did this ALL the time. Too bad this never happens, and the courts vote with a political party.

If they dont get out then they deserve whatever happens.

Unfortunately it never really goes away. Day in the life in this country.

I am not sure the supreme court was wrong on this decision, if they ruled states could keep him off the ballot for this or any other reason, I could see repercussions down the road. Like some states barring candidates due to their religion, race, sexual orientation, or if they like According To Jim or not.

Hate Trump, but sounds like a good ruling IMO.

I thought the 14th amendment covered that.

I think the biggest indicator of a good ruling is when literally every single justice named and confirmed to the highest court in the land agrees with it.

The “legal scholars” who are still arguing it are the ones I’d actually be afraid of because they seem to be most willing to justify violating the democratic norms and procedures they claim to hold so sacred just to stop one asshole from getting elected. Becoming the thing they claim to want to prevent.

I'm not saying the states in my imaginary scenario would fully state why they might want to remove someone from a ballot. I'm sure some states, lets pick Idaho, could sell barring a non christian or homosexual from the ballot because go against the founding principals of the US or some such bullshit.
I just dont think states should be able to remove candidates from national elections from their ballots.

However I fully admit I am not so much a staunch believer in state's rights as most republicans pretend to be, I havent watched much news the last 24 hours but I assume the states right's republicans are furious.

Apparently, there was no open bar for the victory party at Mar-A-Lago last night. Pop (soda) was free, but you're paying out of pocket for the adult bevvies.

Haven't been paying attention to the goings-on in California, but it looks like an Adam Schiff vs. Steve Garvey (yes, that's former LA Dodgers player Steve Garvey) battle in November.

Yep. The CA primary is a weighted primary and the other Democratic candidates essentially competed against themselves which gave Garvey second place.
By percentages alone Schiff should win, but who knows how much people in southern CA still like Steve? Not sure who would as he is such a great father figure <sarcasm>.
