If you could redo that trade, would you?
ARI: Martin Prado, Randall Delgado, Zeke Spruill (all three have contributed in the majors this year), Nick Ahmed (top 15 Dbacks prospect), and Brandon Drury.
ATL: Justin Upton, Chris Johnson
Being an Arizona fan, I have our standpoint on it and it's simple... I'd do that trade over and over again if I'm KT. At first it didn't look great with Upton and Johnson both raking out of the gate and Prado slumping... but since April a lot has changed.
Prado is heating up and has gotten his average up to .263 and has 9 homers and 40 RBI to go with 3 SB and his versatility has been huge for us, he also plays excellent defense.
Delgado has been a quality start machine since being called up from Triple A Reno. He's looked promising so far, and Spruill looks like a nice bullpen piece of back of the rotation starter in the future. Plus Ahmed is a somewhat highly regarded prospect for his defense and speed. Drury is raking in Single A. Not a bad return for AZ.
From your standpoint... Upton basically led your team for a month and helped you claim first place from the start, and Johnson has been a nice option for you guys at third. Not much pop but he has been hitting for average. Upton has been pretty bad since May though.
I feel like Upton wouldn't have had that type of an April for us, as he needed a change of scenery and it certainly helped him out at first... but since then he's really coming back down to earth.
So what do you guys think? Who wins that trade this year or in the long run?
