Let's look at the facts:

His best year prior to 2017 was last year where he hit 19 homers at AAA and 4 in the majors.

That's 23 homers over 505 plate appearances or about one homer every 22 plate appearances.

NOW, in the majors, facing major league pitching, he has 13 homers over 104 plate appearances or a homer every 8 plate appearances. Seems rather implausible.

Combine this with the fact that we've seen this startling onset of power just last year on, surprise surprise, the Yankees with Gary Sanchez. Prior to last year, Gary, like Aaron, had a year where he was hitting approximately one homer every 22 plate appearances. All of a sudden he's called up and proceeds to hit a homer every 11 plate appearances and forces himself into consideration for rookie of the year.

So we're expected to believe that in back to back years the Yankees have produced rookies that have homered at a record clip despite having only moderate success in the minors? Really?

Instead of testing Eric Thames 5 times a week, maybe MLB should send some of its cup holders to the Bronx.

Lets compare

David Ortiz couldnt beat Ron Coomer out for a job, and released by Minnesota, a team desperate for offense

15 minutes later, David Ortiz is the most feared hitter on the planet

15 minutes after that, David Ortiz suddenly appears on a "List" of players that used steroids

David Ortiz is "getting to the bottom of this problem" as fast as OJ is "getting to the bottom of finding Nicoles killer"

Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez have been on every Top 50 minor league prospects report seemingly for the last 10 years......People that scout these guys are probably more surprised it took this long, than it happening at all

We know this is a tough time for Yankees haters

But we did provide a window for all your favorite teams for the last 4 or 5 years.....The Red Sox couldnt capitilize.....Now that window is closing faster than David Prices' career..

Cashman is truly a magician

Just fasten your seatbelts, Sanchez returns tomorrow, and Gleyber Torres is making a mockery of minor league pitching

if it makes you feel better to accuse a man that is 8 feet tall and 400 pounds of being on steroids, Im all for making you feel better, I care about you and your well being

1. @Rock Strongo can you please refute Dirtdirtdirt's lies about Papi? I'm tired of setting him straight (as if that was possible).

2. The Sox haven't capitalized in the last 4 or 5 years? What happened in 2013? (Hint: "oh no! Dirt spoke too soon!").

3. Just because those two may have been liked as prospects doesn't explain the fact that neither of them showed any hint of this torrid homer pace in the minors. Now MAYBE you can chalk some of that up to maturing, but shit Judge is 25. Not like he broke into the league at Mike Trout age and is finally finding his swing.

Mookie Betts

27 Homeruns TOTAL in 5 minor league seasons

31 Homeruns in 2016 in Boston

Have a pleasant afternoon

Mookie wasn't a rookie in 2016. He'd had a full season of Major league pitching before really finding his power stroke.

I also wouldn't be shocked if he tested positive.

Given the Sox's lack of power these days, all I am asking is for the Yankees to stop hoarding the juice.

In Judges' case, its obviously pitch recognition, as far as the difference

His walk rate is ridiculous because pitchers are trying so hard to have him chase pitches he did last season when he struck out at a ridiculous rate

Now that he isnt, they are coming in his wheelhouse, and when they do, they are in big trouble

As far as the Homers, the guy is an absolute giant, when he connects, its going a long way

Really, you would have hoped that Big Papi would have given "the guy's" phone number before he retired.
Come on David, like they taught you in school, sharing is caring.

i still have the detailed SI article about how the kelly and the twins wanted to force him to hit opposite field, etc. move runners vs free swinging.
he was moved to make room for jose morban, SS , in the rule 5 draft. the twins coveted him. ortiz was out of options and because he was limited in the field, no one wanted to take a flier on a lefty hitting DH only guy who was arbitration eligible for a $2 mil raise (in 2002 mind you).
the twins (review the lineup if you want @DirtDirtDirt ) were VERY left heavy.they wanted to try and fit lecroys right handed bat in there as well. the same lecroy who was the twins FIRST ROUND PICK. he had a .871 OPS in the minors. they had to move ortiz for a few reasons.

Have a pleasant afternoon

MLB career - 1700 PA's and 56 HR
minors: 1315 PA's and 27 HR

so in 385 more PA's at the MLB level, hes hit 29 more HR's

thats not out of whack for a stud prospect. you DONT want to see guys doing worse at the MLB level, you want them to be better.

Prediction: Steven Wright never again has a significant run the majors. Maybe a start here or there or some relief appearances but he just has one hit wonder written all over him.

See, I thought he fucked up his shoulder then. I really have no idea when he fucked his knee up.
