Shepherd is a player, but an odd scheme fit. He's a zone CB with great ball skills. Like the player, but not for this defense. It's the 6th, so worth taking a talent that has the possibility to stick.

Mel Kiper had Shepherd atop the best available for the past 2 rounds. Sounds like the kid has top ball instincts and plays faster than he times. NFL Network guys also said the same about his instincts and ability to defend passes. Not a "great" tackler, but may have enough in that area to possibly move to Free Safety.
