Interesting stat of the day:

Blair Jones had 55 points in 56 games in the AHL in 2010-11.

Nice stat dude, looking at his numbers he's been pretty productive in the limited time playing.

Wish we were making room for Alt or Ghost instead of Morin

Shouldn't be making room for any of them imo. Let the kids develop! The flyers are further away from winning the cup than an upgraded 5th or 6th defenseman. Pointless to rush them.

We get to see the new approach on Wednesday against the Bruins. I am stoked to see if the Flyers respond like many of the pundits are expecting. Should be an interesting season.

Not sure about anyone else, but I was definitely shocked. I suspect Rosehill or Stortini will be brought up by the halfway point, though. Still, I like giving it a shot. Their pathetic 4th line was definitely a problem last year.

Agree 100%. Being able to trot out a legitimate 4th line is going to be big for the Flyers this year I think.

Also an underrated aspect, it allows them to carry an extra guy or two that can PK (Bellemare, Jones) and try to take Giroux off the PK unit.

Read/Couts and Bellemare/Jones/Raffl/Rinaldo

I think it would really help the team 5 on 5 if Giroux could stay off the PK unit.

Move them both for Morin and Ghost. 2 big slow guys with decent cap hits for 1 big guys that can move and a little guy that's fast. My hope has been that Ghost could learn from Kimmo. While Ghost is a lot smaller, Kimmo made a career out of strong positional defense. This will be key for Ghost and he would have one of the best at that to learn from.

Luke's getting better every game and hits you need some of that. I do expect Morin to be playing next year and Grossmann is likely gone by then. I am hoping that DZ finds his game as you can't have too many good dmen if anything more trade bait when Ghost is ready. I'm looking forward to all of this!:suds:

Yep, I just checked the stats from last season and it looks like Giroux only averaged 0.93 minutes/game on the PK. I don't mind him seeing some PK time as long as it's on the 2nd unit and not the 1st. Hopefully they can keep him under a minute per game next year, too.

under a minute isn't bad at all. I would've thought it was more than that. regardless, it'd be nice to save him for 5 on 5 and the PP if they can. he's a good/great PK-er, but it'd be nice to rely on others for it.
