I mean...he has next year and then the following as a player option. It would seem likely he picks up 46 million given him being unlikely to get that again. So they got 4 years out of him

Ant starts making $35 million next year.

That is when it gets tough.

I don’t see Minnesota going deep into the luxury tax to pay all 3 for more than a year.

And will they choose the right pieces moving forward?

We shall see.

Imo they will trade one this summer almost no matter what to save money and replace Anderson/rebalance the roster

Apparently the main reason Glenn Taylor stopped the sale was new ownership was looking to cut payroll. So it is not impossible they keep it going as long as they are competitive.

I’m gonna say that will be tough to pull off.

Paying Gobert as two separate people seems sub optimal.

Why wouldn't they if they made a finals this year

2 years of luxury and then you move on from Gobert or possibly trade him in his option year and only one

Does it change if they win a title? Possibly, still a ton of money for 3 guys

I mean, that is Glenn trying to paint himself as a good guy

Yes, I believe they'll eventually trade Kat or Gobert

I'd lean Kat actually as he has the most value, but we'll see. Kat is proving his worth

They most likely view Jaden/Ant as the core 2 even if Jaden is a defensive specialist.

I don’t know their ownership group well.

But they are a small market, so it is definitely harder to pay tax than a GS or a NY or LA.

Might still be willing.

I hope they are.

But I have doubts.

They have exceptionally poor planning if they traded five firsts for Gobert while having Ant and KAT and not be willing to pay luxury

Not sure how credible it is. But rumors are the reason Taylor is stalling the sale to Lore and Arod is because they wanted to cut payroll. So he’s trying to prevent that. But that’s what’s been reported

What I heard personally through people decently in the know is decision on the payroll/luxury was always gonna be determine by these playoffs. I was told that west finals would be a near lock they keep both Rudy and Kat.

But who the fuck knows

well we don't have a lot of franchise playoff wins, so
Well I just did a check of their playoff history...and counting this years current run of 6 wins so far...then adding those to their 21 previous playoff wins from years past...they have 27 total wins as of now.

So..imho, that largest margin of victory last night, isn't something to disregard...it's legit.

Also ftr: I did not do a deep dive into how big the margins were in any of their previous postseason victories.
Last night's 26 pt. win was unprecedented for them.

That's a good bar. If they went out in the 2nd you gotta evaluate how valuable Rudy is

Yeah again, it’s back channels but solidly trustworthy people I know.

I was told 2nd road was a toss up.

First round someone was going. It was actually KAT who I’ve heard as far more likely tho between him and Rudy.

They'd be in luxury regardless
Yeah you don't trade 5 1st's for someone you plan on selling and they will get less than paid. Gobert is not going anywhere.

I guess this playoffs comes down to Kat. If they make it to the WCF's, finals or win it...I would think they keep him unless they get some crazy offers.

That's $128M between 3 guys. Projected cap $141M

Add in all the other guys and that's $183M. That is barely above the projected second apron. Moves will be made most definitely.
