Hey E-Nut, you're a fan of Villanova - are you familiar with the Villanova DE in the Senior Bowl this week? Is he any good?

Nope. Didn't see a lick of their football games. The BBall team has my support though and my girl started grad school there in the fall.:suds:

Call me crazy ... I'd rather take my chances with one of Williams, Davis or Ross in Rd 1 and use the 15 mil or so in cap room to shore up other positions.

I would still want Davis or Williams first. Ross, I'm not sure, but I think we'll know more after the combine. If the deal is factual, and if the guys above are gone, then I would do it. That way, both teams get what they want. We could still get a good corner in the 2nd, and a LB and a RB in the 3rd. It does sound crazy, but we all know that Howie likes to deal.

Some good reports coming from the Sr Bowl -- some WR turning heads there like Kupp, talk of him moving from 3rd/4th to 2nd, from EW and one of my later faves slot guy Trent Taylor from LaTech. Temple LB Haason Reddick showing off in coverage and a number of the corners have not disappointed even raised their stock.

If you dont know too much about Kupp he is decent size(6-2 215) and as would be expected set all kinds of records in the FCS, one thing that stands out is he was just as good against FBS competition in 4 games against Washington St, Oregon, Washington and Oregon St he combined for 40 receptions, 716 yards and 11 touchdowns.

I didn't watch him during the season ... so all I have are clips, but that kid looks like a heck of a receiver. The comparison's to Jordy Nelson imo are pretty spot on. Obviously you have to factor in level of comp, but if he's also kicking arse at the Senior Bowl practices, it eases those concerns a bit. My guess from the vids I've pulled up are 2nd rounder ... maybe even to us if we go Corner in Rd 1 and he's still there in Rd 2.

Yeah, i always thought he was a clone of Nelson. He'd be a good get, if he's around in the 3rd. Add him to Antonio Brown, and we'll have a real good stable of WRs. ;)

He did well against Pac-12 opponents as well.

East Carolina WR Zay Jones stole the show ... 2 TD catches that didn't count (no instant replay denied one and the other was a long TD denied by a hold not around the play). 6'2" around 205. Looks like a really good prospect. RB Kareem Hunt looked damn good running the ball ... made money.

I was looking at Zay. Lots of production. Showed he belongs and could make tough catches. There are some really nice receivers in this draft.

Kareem Hunt could be a mid round target. Wanted to see if he could run in between the tackles. He did well for himself today.

My latest mock:
Round 1 Pick 15: Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan (B+)
Round 2 Pick 11: Cordrea Tankersley, CB, Clemson (A)
Round 3 Pick 10: Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado (A-)
Round 4 Pick 12: Taywan Taylor, WR, Western Kentucky (A)
Round 5 Pick 1: D'Onta Foreman, RB, Texas (B+)
Round 5 Pick 11: Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M (A+)
Round 6 Pick 10: Tyus Bowser, OLB, Houston (B-)
Round 7 Pick 12: Amba Etta-Tawo, WR, Syracuse (B+)
If we stay put, that's solid. I had 3 trade downs and a trade up late...

Round 1 Pick 18 (TENN): Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU (A+)
Round 2 Pick 13 (ARI): Cordrea Tankersley, CB, Clemson (A-)
Round 3 Pick 7 (LAC): Adoree' Jackson, CB, Southern California (A)
Round 3 Pick 10: Zay Jones, WR, East Carolina (B+)
Round 3 Pick 13 (ARI): ArDarius Stewart, WR, Alabama (A+)
Round 3 Pick 19 (TENN): Eddie Jackson, SS, Alabama (B+)
Round 4 Pick 6 (LAC): Julien Davenport, OT, Bucknell (A-)
Round 4 Pick 12: Jaleel Johnson, DT, Iowa (A+)
Round 4 Pick 33: Dawuane Smoot, DE, Illinois (B+)
Round 5 Pick 11: Donnel Pumphrey, RB, San Diego State (A-)

Obviously, not at all realistic, but it was fun nonetheless to end up with those players.

Had a chill out day yesterday and just started watching film and vids on some of the top CB's in this draft ... a few notes: Do not want any part of Bama's Marlon Humphrey; great "hitter" and athlete, but he played mostly zone coverage and looked awkward flipping his hips when asked to play man coverage. In our scheme you need to play "both" man and zone ... he'd actually be a nice fit at Safety at the pro level. Downgraded Washington's Sidney Jones a bit as he "avoids" contact way too often; very solid in coverage, but you have to do a lot more that just cover. I can deal with a player not being a good tackler, but at least get in there and slow the runner down ... you can see Jones intentionally getting out of the way or switching angles in order to avoid contact. Tre'Davious White from LSU is a Corner I've liked for a while and the tape showed me again why I liked him. Incredible footwork and excellent recovery quickness ... plays much bigger than his size and has no problem getting involved in contact. If we skip Corner in Rd 1 I hope he's there for us in Rd 2. Then we have OSU's Marshon Lattimore who's been my #1 rated Corner for months ... wow, is all I can say after watching all his tape. If this kid gets out of the top 10 I would be highly surprised. Excellent size, great at reducing separation, always looking back at the QB while still knowing where the receiver is and great "burst" once the ball is in the air. I can see Lattimore being a Pro Bowler very early on in his career.

I will watch some other guys today and post my thoughts later.

Thanks Rey. I really hope for Corey Davis in the 1st, no matter who we sign n Free Agency. I think the media guys up here think the opposite - the Eagles want to sign at 1 or 2 WRs, and then draft a mid-round WR; and go heavily on defense the draft - CB (2 of them); DT; DE; LB;, and then OL.
I would be thrilled with Davis in the 1st, and white in the 2nd.

Bummed that Zay Jones did so well. He was a WR that was falling to 3rd and even 4th round in mocks. Now he will likely be a high second round pick, maybe even go higher. He's the kind of wideout we need for sure.

He doesn't have the speed they are looking for, unless they sign a fast free agent. He does have great hands though.

I'd take Zay Jones any day ... willingness to go get the ball and having great hands are scarce traits on this ball club. I'm sure scouts knew plenty about him prior to the senior bowl ... it's the fans like us and mock drafters who hadn't done much research on him.

In the first? That's what I was referring to. If we sign a speed WR, then I would go CB, and then WR, like Jones.
in the 2nd.

Ohh no ... I think he's a Rd 3 prospect. If we go another route than WR in Rd's 1 and 2 and he's still there in Rd 3 ... I'd look at him there.
