Don't be an idiot.

The O's made great pitches and the Jays swung at them. Until Ubaldo.
Hits were 9-4. The Jays shot themselves in the foot with RISP three times to end the inning.

The O's arms weren't bad, but to call Showalter's actions "perfect" is hilarious.

I didn't call Showalter's actions "perfect," but the O's pitchers were pretty dominant until Ubaldo.

O's went 3-4 vs Texas.
Jays went 4-3 vs Texas.
Texas has worse pitching that the O's, and a worse bullpen.
Sorry, but the Rangers are the epitome of overrated.

Doesn't matter, because pretty much everybody expects the Rangers to beat the Blue Jays, get crushed by the red sox, who will lose to the Cubs.
LOL - you are obviously a casual fan. Good season for your O's.

Texas should make due with their starters, but the BP...yikes.

Of course, if Osuna is hurt bad then all's even, even if Liriano stays in the BP.

To be fair, Ubaldo did give up the first two baserunners awfully quickly. He wasn't going to be able to get someone warmed up in time for Encarnacion. A similar thing happened a while back when Price was cruising against the Mariners and imploded very quickly. A lot of Sox fans bitched about Farrell leaving Price in (myself included), but Price had a low pitch count and the hits came very fast.

Of course, that was a regular season game in late July/August. This was a one-game playoff. How do you not use your best pitcher? Should be a fireable offense.

Buck getting destroyed on MLB network

What were they saying? Same stuff everyone else here was saying? I had it on the TBS postgame coverage.

This game was lost because the Orioles swing at everything...and Adam Jones is the single most over-rated player in baseball.....Vlad Guerrero without the power.

If Angelos wants to fire Buck and the GM for assembling this roster of free-swinging fools. That is valid.
I have called for Buck's head often this season, because he seems incapable of teaching any plate discipline.

The entire goal of the Orioles is to hit a 5-run homerun every single AB, no matter what the situation.

I would gladly see Buck pack his bags for letting everyone swing on 2-0 counts and never ever sending runner.

But, he doesn't deserve grief for tonight.

on the contrary, Keith Foulke pitched three consecutive days in the 2004 ALCS. He came in twice when the Sox were losing and threw 4 innings in those two games (games 4 and 5). He threw 100 pitches in that three day span. In Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, Rivera came into a tied game and pitched three innings.

Britton has been shaky in non save opportunities. I have watched every pitch he has thrown for the last 3 years.

He sucks at non-save work.

He is one of those guys who has to be in his personal rhythm.

Heck, he looked like crap in his last outing versus NY in the 8th inning when Buck tried to use him out of sync.

He is a guy that simply does one thing well.

This season Britton threw to 74 batters in non-save situations (180 in save situations). They hit .147/.205/.162 in those non-save situations.

They don't appear to have caused a problem for him in 2015 either, where batters managed just .225/.250/.315 against him in non-save situations.

That may have been a classic example of how the "save" stat affects bullpen management.

Just got home from the Uni pub and WHAT A CROWD! Great game and great season. Orioles pushed a very talented jays team to the wire all season. Brutal that they didn't put Britton in. I was saying when it went into extras that the jays had to play for the 13th inning, because Britton wasn't allowing anything in. In a one game plyoff YOU PUT YOUR YOUR BEST PLAYERS IN TO WIN THE GAME. Great players make great plays. And I w2as amazing the Orioles didnt have Britton in. Esp with those bats, my word.

But hats off to Orioles fans everywhere. Was a great rivalry and whoever won deserved it. :suds: Tough way to go out (that's why I hate the one game playoff, but makes for an amazing pub night).

Night all!
