Go re-watch those two 2 minute drives and those 2 TD passes. Big time performance by a guy that has a chance to be Bradford's long term backup.
:sad2: :shrug:Goodnight dude.....enjoy your Tebow dreams tonight.

I think Teblow did very well tonight, given what he had to work with. he showed improvement, and earned the spot as a 3rd. But you talking about him being the 2nd, and long term backup to Bradford??? I think your extending his abilities too far, imho. He still makes 1 read then runs. I give him credit for etending plays, and looking to throw a bit more while on the run. But to suggest he is ready to be even a backup is a huge stretch.

I think we are clearly in the market for a QB in the future (Developemental) and possibly a backup if we can't redo something with Sanchez. No way we continue to invest this much into a backup. But there is, and will be other backups on the market (RG3 even?). No way I see it being Teblow.

So yeah, that is a little premature. Just thinking that assuming he is still rostered tomorrow, he will be here all season, and with another year in the offseason program, I expect we will see a vastly improved Tim Tebow. There was nothing wrong with his throwing motion tonight. I did think he was a little hesitant and not anticipating things as well as Bradford or Sanchez, but I am curious to see what a solid year in the same system would result in?

You gotta remember that this kid has had a horrible start to his career in terms of coaching consistency. McDaniels was fired in year one, on to Fox in year two, then Ryan in Year three. Not exactly the best sort of situation to develop a QB.

What did Kelly once say? (I believe he was quoting someone else) "QBs are like teabags. You never know what you have until you put them in hot water" Well both Barkley and Tebow went in the hot water tonight. Literally playing for their NFL careers. One folded on the 2nd play of the game. The other looked like the real deal.

It does seem preposterous that this is post #227.
Tebow beat out Barkley, fair and square.
Chip wanted Tebow, and most of us love Chip.
At some point, Chip will find his development QB of the future to groom behind Sam.
That's it, and I don't intend to address this thread anymore.
I will focus on the task at hand, and that is to win the SB!

Up until this last exhibition, I would have said it was Barkley all the way. But he shit the bed, and Tebow, with all of his faults, at least stepped up to the opportunity. Tough call on Chip's part.

I think Tebow outplayed Barkley last night. I think in the end it resulted in Chip being able to keep the roster spot for someone else instead of a #3 QB. Based on what I have seen this preseason neither of them deserve to be on an NFL roster.

lol. You guys are trolling me now aren't you? Last night was the first time we saw an even playing field between Barkley and Tebow. Not only did Tebow blow Barkley out of the water, he proved he belongs on an NFL roster.

- Lets start with that 17 yard scamper down the left sideline. That was not a 245 lb guy that had lost a step that was a 230 lb guy that ran like the best to ever play the game. That was RGIII, Vick, Cunningham, Newton good. Very few QBs in NFL history are capable of running like that.
- Now review the tape and look at that throwing motion. I don't think I saw the trademark Tebow shoulder dip a single time? That throwing motion work really seems to have taken hold.
- I get that he is a little slow with his reads still. But we have seen tremendous growth in that in the last three months and a full year and another off season program, he should fully understand the offense. Bottom line is that is a coachable item.
- Three huge passes. The back shoulder catch by Bailey, the 45 yarder to Martino (who??), and the TD to Martino. All big time throws.
- Even the INT was a great play. 4th and long, and rather than throw it away or take a sack he rifled it to a guy in the middle of the field. The INT was actually a net gain for the Eagles. Great decision to take a risk there.

With Kelly's history with injured QBs over the last few years, I don't think he wants his #3 guy to be out on the street. He wants him on the roster where he is definitely available and is continuing to be immersed in the system. Plus Tebow could be picked up. I could see the Dolphins picking him up. That #3 QB security is probably worth more than Najee Goode as your 5th ILB or Reynolds as a 5th Safety.

Dude you think way too highly of yourself. You really don't matter that much. I know you like to feel it is all about you but believe me I rarely give you a second thought.

Where did I mention you or even respond to you? You quoted me and actually said I was trolling you? That alone is laughable.

lol. I am just flabbergasted that people are still saying the Eagles should cut Tebow? That game by Tebow last night was beyond passable. He played great and to see you, Wings and Deano panning it...just can't believe your serious?

I think Tebow beat out Barkley last night. That said, neither of them impressed me. If we actually get to the 3rd QB we have bigger problems than who are 3rd QB is. :D

Yet you made it all about you. To be honest I really don't give a shit about you. My post had nothing to do with you. I made a comment about what I saw last night and what I though would still happen and you come whining like a like a little girl that we are trolling you because we still don't like your boy toy. So what you cream your pants at the mere thought of Tebow. I still do not think he is a good QB. He played well against 3rd stringers. That does not mean he should make the roster. I think it should be used on a player that we don't want another team to snatch up. This much I do know.....If Tebow gets cut he clears waivers easy and does not get a call.

I listened to Mike Mayock who is perhaps the best at breaking down players positives and negatives, and he pretty much told ya Tebow sucks, and the Eagles should go with 2 Qb's. So this is my last post on Tim Tebow, I'm over it. If he makes the team I hope he holds the clipboard tight.

So I get NY TV and didn't hear Mayock live. I just listened to the NFL Game Pass replay, and I guess you must have been listening to a different Mike Mayock? He gave fair and balanced reporting if you ask me. Among other comments,
- He specifically mentioned the great job Tebow did on the 45 yarder, going through his progressions and finding his 3rd option on the deep post.
- On the TD to Martino, he complimented how he kept his eyes down field while running and found the receiver.
- On another pass earlier in the game, he game Tebow an A+ for sliding in the pocket, and throwing in rhythm 20+ yards downfield to Pratt.

I will ignore the insults and move on to football. You shoud to...

So who is the other player?
- First of all, I think they can go short on OL. There is not a 9th guy that another team is going to snatch up.
- Najee Goode? I like the guy, and he definitely deserves a spot, but the eagles go 5 deep at ILB without him. If he makes the team, he is special teams only. Hicks and Jones are your ILB types that play special teams. The team won't miss him or lose any games without him without at least 2 ILB injuries.
- Couplin, Reynolds or Prosinski? You will have Maragos as the Special Teams ace and one of these 3 will also make the roster. Again you would need two injuries for this guy to play, and you will already have two safety types playing Special Teams. Reynolds survived on PS last year and likely will again.

While at QB, the big deal, is not that he would get picked up (which he probably wouldn't), but that you want to keep the learning process going. The 3rd QB is only one injury away from being active, and if you do need the guy, you want him in house and fully immersed in the system. Pulling him off the street two months from now, would be two months of training lost. He is not Practice Squard eligible.

Good post, dpd.

I told these guys Tebow was just rusty. He hadn't played in a couple years. No surprise here that he looked much better in this last game. Hopefully that's the last we see of him on the field, but should we find ourselves stuck with our 3rd QB we can certainly win games with a non-rusty Tebow. Hopefully many of the eagle fans won't keep rooting against him if he turns into our QB later in the year. And hopefully, for their sake, it won't take away from their joy if we happen to win with him.
