Raiders will be our trade partner. Just watch.

I disagree. He didn't perform very well, but I don't think he was scared at all. Did you think he was scared last year?

No, I didn't see the sacredness last year while in the pocket. He actually stepped into throws while being pressured.

That's why I don't know what happened. He looked scared with pressure around him this year. Not stepping into throws, throwing off back foot, getting feet happy etc. I said from the get go he looked terrible, yet some just wanted to talk about stats rather then what they were seeing.

Heres the trade I propose...

Eagles trade with Raiders to move from 20 to 4 to pick Mariota.

We send them...

2015 1(20) = 850
2015 2(52) = 380
2016 #1 = 570
DE Vinny Curry = 200

For a total of 2000 pts. The 4th pick in the draft is worth 1800. So we even gave them a little extra with Curry. Im betting the deal is probably even done pending MAriota making it to #4.

Then we trade Nick Foles to Houston for 2 (51).

We then have plenty of good picks...

1(4) From Raiders for QB Mariota
2 (51) From Houston for Foles
3 (84)
4 (110)
4 (116)
Plus the rest of them.

If the Bucs pick Winston & Ive been thinking they would & word now is that they prefer him, then we have a real chance. Which is exactly what Ive been preaching for the last couple of months. That we do have a chance.

Tennessee IMO wont pick him.
Jags wont pick him either.

So then, would someone trade up for him?

Jets, Skins or Rams come to mind but I dont think any of those teams will be sold enough to do so. Now, if he is there when they pick....thats another story, thats why we have to trade up. At least imo.

Thing is, Mariota isnt plus & play like an Andrew Luck or Eli or someone like that. He is for us but thats about it. Wouldnt stop a team from taking him at their pick if they like him but it would stop them from trading picks as well. Which is why I think we have a great shot at getting him.

So long as the Raiders wanna play ball & Im betting they do. They need a hell of a lot more than we do.

Titans Wisenhunt is definitely not a fit for Mariota.
Dan Snyder already has his RG3.
The Jets have Chan Gailey running their O.
THe Rams Fisher wont want a rookie QB.

The question might not be whether or not he is available at 4 but whether or not we can get him even later.

The Browns are probably our biggest compettion for Mariota & their owner loves MAnziel. So..IDK, Maritoa might be available in teens..who knows.

Gonna be interesting.

Titans could use a QB, but is Mariota their guy…I'm not sure either. Though I could see teams like the Jets, Rams and Browns possibly getting in the hunt for Mariota.

If Mariota is there at #4, I could see the Raiders wanting to load up on draft picks. In that scenario we'd have a real good chance of getting him. Would have to sweat it out as other teams are in much better position to acquire him.

I know that other teams will want to trade up for him, but that's why I think Chip will offer a lot more to get MM. I think Tennessee holds the key to making a trade down, if they're happy with Mettenberger, so Chip will have to make an offer they can't refuse. Also, does Whiz think MM will be good in his system.

if we trade up that high in the 1st, no way we keep our own #1. I don't see a trade partner waiting until next year to have 2 1st round picks (esp if the pick they get from us next year might be even lower). I think it's more likely it will cost us our 1st this year, and possibly a 2nd or 3rd next year instead - possibly contingent upon Foles performance or playing time.

I am not sold on MM, but if Chip is - then get it done. I'd rather go after a stud uarterback than continue on with dark horses. Tom Brady's just don't come along every day, and very few are recognized. Everyone saw Luck coming. I'd rather go all out on a player like that. Best thing IND did was lose out the season before.

I don't think the Titans need a QB at all.....Had Zach Mettenberger not gotten hurt at LSU he would have been a 2nd rd pick. The kid has a strong arm and he can spin it. I personally think his future is bright in the NFL. What the Titans need is to get him protected, starting with a RT. I'd take Mettenberger over any QB in this draft right now!

I like Mettenberger on the field. I think he's got a live arm and can make all the throws. Though he's got a lot of injury concerns, not just that ACL injury he had before the draft. He missed games last year to a shoulder injury. Also, he was reportedly medically flagged by NFL teams because of a back condition - spondylolysis. I'm assuming that was more of a reason he dropped all the way to the 6th round than his ACL. I think the Titans wouldn't pass up a franchise type guy because of Mattenberger, but the question is…do they view any of these QBs as the right fit and as franchise guys. Whisenhunt's history suggest Mariota isn't the right fit Maybe he alters his scheme to play into his strength, but most likely he holds off until he can find his guy.

I could see the Titans going after Garrett Grayson in the mid rounds, or trade for Nick Foles like you suggested in this thread -- so I'm assuming you believe the Titans could use a QB as well right?

Stop it. You know you would take Mariota over Mattenberger in a heartbeat.

Again, the purpose of this thread was to say that the Titans would seem to be the perfect trade partner. I agree MM is the perfect choice to run Chips offense, unless we had Russsel Wilson which we do not. SO a trade with the Titans including Nick Foles and Pick #20 would make perfect sense for both teams. I was not aware of Zach Mettenberger having back issues, but if that is the case I could see the Titans absolutely having interest in Nick Foles.

It might just be smoke but the Titans were rumored to be one of 3 teams interesting in trading for Foles - the other two being the Rams and Texans. All 3 teams make sense and I could definitely see Foles drawing some interest.

We'd have to make a very enticing offer to the Titans to jump all the way to #2. Vinny Curry is not a fit for Horton's 3-4 defense. Though I think we could trade Curry to a 4-3 team for a late 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I'm trying to think of a trade the Titans might consider. The obvious starting offer is #20, 2016 1st, Nick Foles. That's when it starts to get tricky, possibly a 2nd and 4th round this year as well. A 3rd and a 4th would be much better for us obviously.

Not saying I would do this yet, but it definitely holds consideration as Mariota very well could be the franchise guy in the perfect scheme. Of course there are risk involved, but we haven't had much luck in past history so this could be a swing for the fences. Could pan out huge, or leave us crippled for the next 3-5 years.

#20, Nick Foles, 2nd round, 4th round, 2016 first round. Would the Titans take that, would Eagles fans consider that? Obviously I'd rather give up less; example being giving up a 3rd this year rather than a 2nd, but I'm trying to gauge what it would take for them to bite.

We could turn around and trade Curry for a late 2nd or 3rd. Possibly even McCoy for another 3rd round pick. Go big in FA and lock down one of Bryon Maxwell or Davon House as our top CB. Grab Jason Worilds (Or Jerry Hughes), Rahim Moore (or Da'Norris Searcy), Stefen Wisniewski and a stopgap CB like Tramon Williams. Re-sign Maclin. While cutting Herremans, Cary Williams, Demeco Ryans (or pay cut), Trent Cole and James Casey.

Could leave us with

#2 overall (F/Titans)
Late 2nd/3rd (F/Curry)
3rd (F/McCoy)
3rd (Ours)
4th
5th
6th
7th

I think we have a better than 50% chance of landing Mariota. Always did...at least once i knew bith he & winston were both coming out.The likelihood we trade mccoy this offsets on is significantly lower imo. Just don't see it at all.

Gotta remember that Jackson was a problem and was overpaid and wanted more money. Different situation with Mccoy.

Would you guys take Andrew Luck over Mariota? Luck's been in the league three years, they haven't won anything. Statistically, their defense is better than the Eagles.

Wings, this deal goes down and I'll buy you a pitcher of the best beer in the house next time you're in Music City USA. :suds:

Problem is, Ruston Webster is far less competent as Titans GM than you or I and I doubt VERY seriously he has the wit to pull this off. :bawling:

Unbiased view point.

Titans...I agree...you take this deal everyday of the week and twice on Sunday!

Eagles...way, way too much. Idk think anyone really knows what MM will be at the pro level long term, but I think it's safe to say based on based precedent that he will take a couple of years before he's ready to be an effective NFL QB.
