I think teams would try and crowd the box anyhoo as priority #1 against Chip Kelly's style of play is to stop the run.

btw, looks like what Wings and I have been saying may not be far fetched or hypothetical any longer. Check out this link ... Shady himself talks about it.
LeSean McCoy uncertain of future but willing to be flexible | Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia

I dont think its a hypothetical to Wings. He wants McCoy gone. Period.

We'll see how it works out but I hope you guys dont get your wish.

BTW.. the only reason he is talking about it because they are asking about it. Always stirring up shit.

IMO, its ludicrous to even think about if you are the Eagles F/O. Unless someone blows you away with draft picks (that wont happen) & it helps you get Mariota ..it makes no sense in my opinion.

Maybe Im wrong. Its happened before. lol.

Basically you are telling your team, that even though you are a top player and not a malcontent...we will cut/trade you in a heartbeat and not think twice...and then pay some free agents with that money.

Cutting Jackson was probably hard to explain to the team. Trading McCoy would be impossible. If I was an Eagle Id be straight up pissed...ESPECIALLY after they just cut Jackson last year & he then came back to bite us in the ass.

I like Shady ... he's fun to watch and he's a good player ... so I don't want him gone for the sake of getting rid of him. If we can resign our own guys and still have plenty left to hit the free agent market and improve that D ... then by all means keep him. Next year though I see Polk getting much more PT in short yardage and goal line situations as he's a banger and a better option in those situations than Shady ... I also see Sproles back in the same 3rd down role he had this year and despite his size wasn't a bad red zone option for us. So, Shady's taking up almost 12 mil in cap space to be a 1st and 2nd down back between the 20's?

I think CTC needs a hug.

Swat I loved Shady just like I once loved Djax... I've seen enough at that dollar figure. Now if Shady is willing to restructure and play for about 6 mill per than I'm all in favor of keeping the 3 headed monster with him/ Sproles and Polk... I don't want him at 12 mill.

I know man. I understand your unwillingness to have to him at 12m but thats for 1 year. In 15 & 16, he'll be at around 8m.

It seems a restructure may be coming because just as the Eagles may not want him at 12 this year, he only has 1m guaranteed left on his contract, so Mccoy himself probably wants more guaranteed $/security going forward. Im sure McCoy realizes RBs simply dont make a ton compared to other pos. so his options may not be great elsewhere.

One solution would be to extend his deal another 2 years, give him a new SB & guarantee a portion of the next few years.

He is making 10m in salary this year. You could still pay him the same amount but instead of 10m base, you could pay him 5m base & 5m SB. Or even reduce it by 1-2m because you are giving him more money up front & guaranteeing more. Makes his cap # in 2015 6-7m instead 12m. Would keep him between 7-8m for next 5 years.

But that would tie you to him for next 3 years at minimum. Is 5 or even 6m in savings this year worth that? I dont know. I guess we'll find out in the next few months.

He'd have to restructure his contract to stick with the team. I loved Shady as a prospect and I've loved the great years he's given us. Though if this year is any indication, then he's not the same Shady of old. The 12M cap figure for next year is WAY too high. After watching his play this year, even his 8m cap number in 15 and 16 is a bit high for my liking. I'm not saying he was bad, and I understand the struggles of the o-line early on - but he didn't showcase that elite burst he once had. He also looked more tentative than ever, going down with far too much ease. He didn't hit the hole hard, nor have the power to break arm tackles. He's still a nice player that can make some real nice runs at times, but he doesn't look like the same player he once was. Unless we get the Shady of old, he'll have to restructure his contract to stick around. RBs are a dime a dozen and can be found everywhere - that's just the reality of the NFL nowadays.

Take this lightly, but I won't be surprised if Shady isn't on the team next year.

Ok, here's a question...

Say you get a 1st round pick for MCCoy (pick 20 or higher). What do you do with it (specifically) that improves this team?

If you wanted a RB & had a top 20 pick...selecting Melvin Gordon would be a much better idea than trading for McCoy who has a lot of mileage.

I think the most you get for Shady is a 2nd or 3rd. Which has about a 30% chance of turning into a player.

Swat, you didn't answer Deano's question. The question is if - what would you do with it?

I think I'd try to package the 2 #1s, plus other picks to move up for Mariota. That's my answer.
If I can't get that done, then I'm picking the 2 BPAs that would help us = a CB, S, or ILB. Then in round 2 = my QB of the future.

I don't see anyone giving up a 1st for Shady either ... for the same reason I wouldn't mind us trading him for the right price. RB's are a dime a dozen if you have a strong OL for them to run behind. I think Shady's trade value would be mid to late 2nd ... but all it takes is one team to get better than that. Indy have up a 1st for friggin' Trent Richardson.

I guess at least now we'll know who got rid of who and who Chip really likes.

6 years in the NFL....already showing signs of slowing down....3rd rd at best is what we would get for him.
Now Shady may be enticing in a package deal should we want to trade up.
