Jeez, this is weird. Saffold runs to the Raiders and lays a turd and then comes running back and the Rams accept him back with a big sloppy kiss after he fails a physical. What next?

I agree, Retro. I would have told him to fuck off.

Apparently, the deal he signed to come back is for just under $6 million/year, with "playing time incentives". Which is right around what the Rams' final offer was, in the first place. We weren't going to pay him what the Raiders were willing to offer. That would have been pure insanity.

I'd wait & see what the $$$ are over 5 years before I pan this. When healthy he is an above average to good guard & a decent swing tackle. The Rams O-line did need some help. Hopefully the Rams stood firm & low balled him for around 5 years at $20 mil.

Edit: $6 mil for him is still too much in my opinion. Paying a guard or RT that much money is an overpay.

I just heard this on ESPN radio as well. I'm stoked!!!!
We got him for just under 6 a year and with injury incentives just in case he gets hurt. This is great news guys. We were all clamoring to keep him here in the first place.

Maybe the rams FO knew of this and possibly why they didn't react when he left. Something tells me they did.

Go Rams!!!

Suck it raiders.

3 mill a year if that is the way the contract is structured. I agree Mutigers, not bad at all. The strange thing is once Saffold pooped his drawers in Oakland, I suppose he felt he wasn't going to get another offer and came running back to the Rams like a scare child out in the dark and signed for less than the last offer by the Rams. This one gets more weird the more I research.

Then, it's a good thing they're not paying him $6 million, huh? ;)

Just under $6 million makes Saffold roughly the 13th highest paid guard in the NFL and puts him just a hair above the league average. It's tough to really call that an "overpay", considering his versatility and how well he played at guard last year.

I still would have told him to fuck off, though. Lol

5 years 21.5 mil. Not bad at all.

Good God... If THAT'S the contract, then I'll be waiting for Saffold's agent to file the police report against Les Snead. I wonder if he used a firearm? Lol.

The money sounds okay and the escape hatch if he's injured, but if he is injured ( and he seems prone to injury) who do the Rams use to plug the hole AND play adequately?

Seems to me the Rams still need an OL or two.

The craziest things seem to happen to the Rams.

I put these numbers in a google search and this post came back as the top result. Id love for these to be the final numbers but I doubt it.

He is going to be making $6 million a year and he'll likely have play time incentives that will push him to close to the Raiders contract. $6 mill seems about right. $8 mill would be an overpay. Keep him at right guard. Hope he actually stays healthy :hope:

Guys this is a good thing, we wanted to sign him and now he knows that the Rams at least want him and maybe that extra effort comes out. Another starting guard and good OT in the draft is coming.

The offensive line was very noticeably better when he was in playing at Guard last year, imo. Initially it does seem like fantastic news

Supposedly the Rams players have to take a physical at the end the of the season and he passed that. But the Rams are saying he's in the best shape of his career and supposedly he benchpressd 400 pounds last week. This is crazy for sure. Imagine our run game with Robinson and Saffold at guards

Why ??? Because he did what almost every player does??? Look after his best interest...And why cut off your nose to spite your face when you can get back an important piece of the O line at a good price ???

Here's what happened. The dumbass Raiders overpaid and didn't realize it until after the contract was signed. Then they found a way out because he's not a starting LT in the league and they realized they overpaid. My guess is they sign a QB and draft an OT early in the draft.

I'm not particularly over-joyed that Saffold is back. He is still injury prone, and all the reasons you guys were making that Oakland would be sorry for signing him are still valid, except that now they are OUR reasons. If he was still such a hot commodity why did he immediately run back to the Rams instead of trying for a more lucrative contract with another team?
