Quick question for you folks putting Oregon ahead of Alabama, and I want serious answers, I'm not trolling or being butthurt here...real discussion.

Are you guys just going off of Oregon's putting 50 points on all their opponents? Of course I'm bias, but it seems like I'd need a little more than that to unseat the 2-time defending national champs, who are still undefeated.

Alabama has started slow this year, but you have to credit some of that to who they are, the defending champs are getting everyone's absolute best game. Even with that, Alabama has a 3 TD win over 6-1 VT, who would be undefeated if not for playing Bama, they also have a win over top 10 A&M in College Station. While Oregon has a win over Washington....who also lost to Stanford.

It's probably my crimson glasses doing work, but I look at both these teams, and I see Alabama undefeated with a better resume. Just don't see enough to put Oregon ahead right now.

Didn't stop you from ranking Michigan who did pretty terrible against some truly, truly horrible opponents (Akron, and UConn)

Michigan doesn't have a FCS loss to go with it.

^^^^ This right here.

Michigan also didn't need a 2 TD comeback in the 4th against either team. They were down 3 to Akron and 7 to UConn, and both of those teams are better than SDSU. Ohio State, with our backup QB and RB, had to try not to score on them. We were up 35-0 at half and, watching that game, anyone could tell we could've hung 80 if we wanted.

Michigan has been living on borrowed time. Barely escaped bad teams a couple times already

We have some problems but I still think we're capable of being a top 25 team. We haven't put a complete game together yet. In the end, we should have beat Penn State. I guess we'll just have to see but we're still ranked in the top 25 after that loss so there's time to correct mistakes. No one thought Michigan was going undefeated, I predicted two losses. I might add a 3rd loss to that season prediction.

You don't think every team dreams of knocking off Oregon in the PAC-12? Ultimately, unless Oregon struggles, they'll continue to split the #1 votes, and will meet Bama in the BCS title game, where #1 will be decided on the field.

Personally, I think Oregon would win if they played this Saturday, but I have some pretty huge reservations about picking them with 4 weeks of prep time for Saban,

3-3 San Diego State is worse than 0-5 UConn? I understand Oregon State lost to an FCS team, but UConn and Akron are worse combined than Eastern Washington and San Diego State. Michigan hasn't looked much better than Oregon State.

Watching UConn play and watching SDSU play, yeah UConn is better. Not saying they're good by any stretch, but they have at least shown some decent signs. Watching SDSU vs. Ohio State was like watching a sticky note vs. a flamethrower. We could've beaten them worse than we beat Florida A&M if we wanted to.

EWU, I really don't know anything about. I do know they're an FCS team and it was at Oregon State, though.

Did you watch Uconn lose to Towson, lose to Buffalo by 30, or lose to an awful South Florida team? It's no secret SDSU looked like shit against Ohio State, b/c Ohio State is a lot better than Michigan is. Both teams are garbage don't get me wrong, but at least SDSU has beaten SOMEBODY. There's an outside chance SDSU could make a bowl game at least.

Uconn might be the worst FBS team in America.

You might be right. But you know who isn't even an FBS team? The team that beat Oregon State.

Let me ask you this - if I was trying to make this argument in 2007 after UM lost to Appy State, you'd be saying the same thing I'm saying, fair?

Were you arguing who deserves to be ranked, regarding Oregon State and Michigan? I was just pointing out who I think is better between SDSU and Uconn. Uconn is awful.

I for one have no problem ranking somebody if they have lost to an FCS team, if they prove worthy. Michigan was ranked after week 7 back in 2007, the same week we just finished.

Michigan right now is better in the human polls, and Oregon State is currently better in the computers. I did the math and Michigan would be slightly ahead in the BCS standings if they came out this past week. Honestly they are too close to get in an uproar over IMO. I mean they are separated by about .05, which is usually the difference between 1 or 2 spots at the most in the BCS.

EWU is an FCS team and they're probably better than Akron and uconn. Regardless, top 25 teams shouldn't lose to these kind of teams but it's not like being an FCS team makes you worse than teams on the FBS level.

It doesn't in reality, you're right there. We've seen time and time again that isn't the case. However, a loss at Penn State at night in a whiteout is far more acceptable than losing at home to an FCS team, no?

Oregon St has the worse loss out of the two, but they also have more quality wins IMO. I assume you also think Bama deserved to go to the title game in 2011 because they had the better loss in comparison to Okla St, correct?

I don't think they have more quality wins and they have a much, much worse loss.

I though Okie State deserved it in 2011 because they DID have more quality wins, and they also won their conference. We are not comparing to conference champs, we're talking about two teams that have accomplished very little.

Winning @Utah is better than beating ND at home and winning @Wazzu is better than beating Minnesota at home IMO. Michigan's other 3 wins are CMU, Uconn and Akron, nothing of substance. Oregon State's other 3 wins are Colorado, Hawaii, and SDSU again, nothing of substance. But its why Oregon State is ahead in the computers at this point, because they have played a better schedule to date.

Yeah, absolutely. But you were holding Oregon States win over SDSU against them because you said SDSU was horrible. I don't think you were holding Michigan's two terrible wins against them though. That was my only point.
