Great Game because we won. The first half was typical Lions- Murphys law. Bush looked amazing. Stafford looked awesome. Pettigrew should be strictly a run blocker. I liked the way the offense moved the ball. Hated the Peterson long TD....but after that the run D looked stout. Hated the Delmas penalty....thought the Suh penalty was bullshit...didn't he block his thigh? Isn't that legal? I will have to watch it again. I was cursing our LB's after the first TD...but they actually surprised me the rest of the way. Bottom line, we didn't win a division game last year so this was huge. I was happy that even though things were going terrible they still pulled away and won. They played with a lot of confidence. 1-0

Go Lions.

last year it was legal -- they changed the rule this year and you have to be in front of the player to block him low like that.

OK I am convinced Fauria has moved passed Scheffler!

If he could block I would prefer to see him on the field instead of Pettigrew.

Ok it's one game but damn real production from an UDFA!

My biggest problem with that hit is he didn't need to throw the block at all. Levy had passed the guy.

The Suh block was a killer but that is football. These guys have been coached for years to play to the whistle and always hustle. Last year the play is no big deal and a Dertoit TD, hard to change old habits I guess. Now if these things continue then maybe Suh still needs to get it together, but I'll let this one slide.

Burleson looked solid today!

He surprised me. I wonder if he can keep it up.

The team needs to cut down on the penalties or they won't be beating teams with winning records.

I see him replacing Pettigrew.....if Pettigrew continues on being Pettigrew.

agree 100% -- i was screaming when i saw the flag, because the guy wasn't even in the play. levy could backpedaled to the end zone and that guy wouldn't have caught him.

it has to be tough with all the new rule changes though -- you play the game one way your whole life and then new rules are introduced and you have to get yourself to stop making plays you did in the past. still isn't an excuse, as it cost the team points.

Let's not go overboard -- Fauria did a great job and should be a weapon in the red zone at 6'7" with teams giving CJ so much attention.

Not sure if i'm ready to name him a starter, after a 3 catch 27 yard performance. Speaking of UFA's though -- Joique Bell has been an absolute monster for the Lions!!

I could be wrong, but wasn't Fauria actually out there on the first play for the Lions? He wasn't announced as a starter, but, I think he started. Eminem Scheffler's TD drop only helped JF's bid for more PT, IMO.

CJs dropped/not caught TDs never seem to bother anyone though. He only had two yesterday...

Lets not forget, we still have Broyles waiting in the wings. When he comes back, that's another good route runner with great hands.

Edwards looked solid also. Nothing spectacular, but a solid game. Caught all the balls thrown his way and picked up some nice first downs.

I probably should have posted that in thread where people state who they want benched/cut. I might still do that. Johnson took 14 points off the board for us. While Calvin had three receptions. You can't do that in must win home divisional games..... Or can you?

The first one I feel was a hose job. That was a TD. The second one was just a bit too far of a throw and he just quite couldn't tap that second foot in. A for effort on his part though. No worries, there atleast trying to get him the ball regardless of double teams.

That game took years off my life.

Swarm's week 1 ups and downs

Downs:

* The process: So Bell can dive over a pile, barely pass the ball over the line, have it knocked out of his hands and that is a TD but Calvin can catch a ball, CROSS THE LINE, but it's not a TD. I don't even think the NFL knows their own rules anymore.

* Suh shouldn't have blocked that guy but it wasn't dirty. Again, rules change at a rapid pace when guys are used to playing one way for years. Fuck the media who try to spin this into another Suh is dirty player internet hit trap for morons.

* My own fandom is being tested. I was screaming FIRE SCHWARTZ! after that AP TD and just about lost my damn mind the moment Mike "Satan" Pererria popped up on my screen to tell my how Calvin isn't allowed to catch TD's anymore.

* I felt like they needed to go deep to Calvin a little more often. If for nothing else than to spread the defense even more and open up some of those shorter 5 yard curls Bush, Bell and Pettigrew were grabbing.

* Somebody needs to teach Pettigrew how to carry a football.

Ups:

* The back 7 looked good!? Levy looked good? I was really taken aback. Is this the Delmas factor? I don't know. I hope they can keep it up.

* The D Line is incredible. Fairley is a total beast. He is going to hurt someone this year,

* Stafford looked just fine. I need to remember this next year come pre season.

* Reggie Bush. I got him in all 3 of my fantasy drafts, all in the 2nd round. Bush >>>> AP who went no.1 overall in all three.

* Props to Schwartz for keeping the teams head on straight after that circus of a 1st quarter.

* Gotta eat some crow about Nate. He looked good out there and did what he needed to do to help the team move the ball.

Next week is a winnable game in AZ. This D line vs. that O line could get NASTY. Let's hope the Lions can keep up this momentum. GO LIONS!

I agree. The guys on the radio this morning are saying Suh will probably be fined for going at the guy's knees. If so, it's a reputation thing only. He was trying to make a play (albiet ill-advised, given how far behind the play he was), but it wasn't dirty. A penalty, absolutely. A dirty play deserving a fine, no.

Well, I had to leave mid-game and listen in my car. Pleasantly surprised at the Lions ability to shake off that clown show from the first 1.5 quarters.

But the next thing that came into my head was ... how BAD are the Vikings? The Lions left all kinds of points on the field, and still scored 34. After the 78-yarder by Peterson, the Lions put 7 & 8 in the box to stop him the rest of the game, and Ponder couldn't take advantage of it. Yeesh, not a good start at all if you're a Minny fan.

The lions actually looked impressive.....if you take away the discipline problems and shooting themselves in the foot over and over.....this game could of been a blow out....

Bush will be special at home....hope he can be decent on the road
The d-line is good..
Didnt give up many big passes
Shut down AP after the first run
Spurlock looked good on ST
Offensive line opened up holes
Liked most of the playcalling
Bell and bush are a great combo
If fauria can beef up....
Pettigrew still sucks
Stafford played great

It was only the vikes, but they looked pretty good...now just cut out the BS.
