She asked a valid question to which he responded like a child "Well thank God you're not the manager."

I agree I didn't like his response. But if she said the 7th then it was more valid in my opinion.

Wash uses a defiant response in place of any intelligent response to his idiotic moves.

He does have that IDGAF look but I just think that's the way his normal demeanor is. That said I really don't see him as another Murphy. He simply just provides insurance because of Cruz's absence this season and next season. Other than that I don't think we should have expected anything out of the ordinary from him. He'll do some good things but will also spare us to death at times as well.

... and that is exactly what the rap was on him w/CHW. He is like invisible man out there. Only guy less visible on the field was the third base umpire.

Very defensive answer. I imagine there was some grimacing up in the FO. TEX attracts a huge media presence from Japan and TEX coverage courtesy of Yu's popularity at home is worth millions in TEX merchandise revenue.

There was a way to answer that question appropriately and honestly ... Wash just doesn't have that perspective and chooses to respond to any question that might impinge his judgement with an affront like this one.

Completely unrelated but former KU football coach Mark Mangino lost 127 pounds!

I think it's just the way he is.
having said that, now would not be a good time for a slump

To me that kind of response just says that he knows he is/was wrong but won't admit it. He was just being too damn stubborn there. I'm someone that says if you're wrong it's ok to accept it and admit it. It doesn't make you any less of a person. We're all human at the end of the day.

Then Wash should have changed the question by answering for the appropriate inning where Yu might have looked tired.

Oh wait ... Wash sent him out for the 8th too didn't he? Never mind ... there was no way Wash could answer her question without condemning his decision process.

I've never heard Wash speak intelligently about anything baseball related. He manages with his gut and his wily veterans. That's it. That is his whole philosophy on baseball...which is why the Rangers are the perfect team for Elvis Andrus. Seriously, the dumbest baserunner I've ever seen. No hyperbole. The dumbest.

Our offense and defense better get their act together as we may face the exact same 3 pitchers in Seattle in a few weeks.

Agree and he has to be defensive because otherwise he has to apologize for his lack of decision making during a game. And he would be apologizing a lot.

Okay, this is weird. My father just called, and he NEVER calls me. Not because he's a bad father, because I talk to my mother 1000 times a week, and my brother and my Aunt.

Anyway, it was something about my puppy who he's watching. Apparently, according to my mother, he spoils her rotten.
I proceed to go on a gigantic rant about the Rangers...(like he cares, but he is my father and he does love baseball)
so I'm "blah blah....freaking 4th OF starting every game, blah blah, we lost Cruz, blah blah, I hate the A's, blah blah...the Mariners...blah blah"

he's just quiet, I asked if he was there. Totally serious...I said "Hello"...then he replies
"So what? what are you going to do about it... nothing, I suggest you relax or quit watching"

I tried a "but" and he cut me off, "they're one of best teams in baseball, try enjoying it. I didn't call to talk about the Rangers" (okay I had that coming)
and....back to the puppy talk, which cheered me up immediately

What a jerk, with all his rational crap

There was no reason for trying to steal 3rd. You are in scoring position and you know that Beltre will get a chance to drive you in.

Its called game situation IQ. Andrus' is in the single digits. Wash is not far behind. Aggressive baseball never should trump smart baseball. "Smart baseball" is not in the Rangers' mission statement.

2 of these 3 games you went up against our two best pitchers, and took 1 off of a top 5 contender for the AL Cy Young award.

Not bad, IMO.
