I would assume that with the #2 pick, they'd be taking thier "QB of the future" in the draft. I wouldn't anticipate them trading/signing a FA (other than a vet 'mentor' maybe)
i think keeping howell is smarter than bringing in a vet.keeping brisett is likely too.

My VERY early QB predictions:

Chicago - Williams (obviously)
Washington - Daniels
NE - Maye
Tenn - stick with Levis
Atl. - Cousins
Minn - Fields
Denver - Penix
Vegas - McCarthy
Pitt - Wilson

@TREFF if they Raiders draft a QB with #13 who is your favorite target?

should've said this in the last message..sorry for the double quote-

No Bo Nix in the mix for you??

I'll shot my shot at those same predictions, why not??

Chicago - Williams - although I believe this to be a mistake- I have "Ryan Leaf" feels on Williams

Washington - Daniels - agreed

NE - McCarthy - I think Maye is in a downward spiral from what I've been hearing, and defensive minded Mayo is going to want a QB with a more traditional NFL skill set, who's been taught a more traditional NFL offense

Tenn - Levis - agreed, no point in giving up on that young slinger after only a handful of games to see what he can do

Atl. - Any veteran Free agent QB with solid starting experience. Would totally buy Cousins, but would just as easily buy RW, Brissett, Minshew, Thia Stick- virtually any competent NFL caliber QB. probably draft a 3rd-5th round developmental and hope for the best between he and Ridder

Minn - Truly believe this is where Cousins stays. If they don't get him, I would repeat what I said about ATL. can't waste JJ on the pipe dream that your #11 pick gets you a year one stud rookie QB

Denver - D. Maye- with a 50/50 side bet on Sam Darnold coupled with a later round developmental. Sean Peyton has zero history suggesting he'll draft a QB in the first round. His entire career has been taking already viable NFL starters and improving them, not starting from scratch. Also wouldn't be surprised to see them trade for Mac Jones- Peyton loved that guy coming out a few years back, and it would fit his MO

Vegas - Bo Nix/D. Maye - What I truly hope and pray for is a low level trade for Mac Jones after NE drafts their guy at #3. I really do believe that if given a typical, normal NFL offense this kid could be a an above average facilitator type. Getsy's experience in GB with both MM and Lafluer, would suggest he probably knows more than what he was allowed to show with Fields in Chicago. If they draft a kid, there's zero point in keeping Adams around.

Pitt - Pickett but with a more viable veteran than Trubs at #2, and a developmental

In my, ideal pipe dream-esque, scenario, either Bo Nix or Drake Maye fall to where maybe Seattle, LAR, T.B. gets an unexpected shot at them where they can afford to let them sit and learn behind their veteran

nowhere do I see viable home for Fields as a starting QB..thus little value in the trade market

I could see Mccarthy to NE. I actually almost went with this over Maye. Seems like a NE type of pick.

Maye to Denver is interesting. I thought he could slip but not that far.

I think the #5 QB off the board is either Nix or Penix but I could see one of them or both sliding to late 1st or even 2nd. Both are older prospects.

shit, I gave you a hard time for forgetting Nix, and I forgot about Penix..lol

Penix is a tough one. huge health red flags, and little experience facing decent competition, and when he did, he wasn't all that great. I think Mark Schlereth broke down his title game film for the local yocals sports talk radio. out of his 27 completions (27 of 51) vs the Michigan defense, 18 of them were within 5 yards, or behind, the line of scrimmage. Kid just doesn't seem to have the ability to anticipate anything downfield, and only tries it when it's WIDE open, or in desperation.

If any of the 'big 6' fall out of the 1st, it'd be him. It doesn't sound as though anyone in the Denver brass is high on him at all- but who knows, this time of year, hard to believe much of anything coming out of a team's front office

Yeah my pick was Penix to Denver but that is the one team I have no clue. Could see them not picking QB in the 1st. They are paying Stidham $5M.

That is surprising bc I loved Penix ball placement and accuracy but I don't like him as a pro prospect. Guys that took forever to develop like Nix and Penix scare me.

well if you check out his stuff he does look really good..until he faces any real competition.
the entire PAC12 had only 3 teams in the top 50 defenses, only one of which- UCLA, was top 10, and Washington didn't play them. Texas wasn't a top 50 unit either, but vs that #1 ranked Wolverines D, his accuracy was horrid.

SO many of these QB's have amazing numbers comign out of the Pac 12, the Big 12, yet, unless they have games vs the Big 10 or SEC, it's tough to gauge what you're truly seeing. There's just little to no defense in those conferences, hasn't been for quite some time.

Yeah it is difficult to evaluate Pac3 QB's. Penix has some great traits but a lot of guys running nude in that offense all year. Tough to evaluate him but I would lean more of a project which is less than ideal at his age. He isn't worth a 1st, maybe a 2nd but he seems more of a mid-round pick target imo

Interesting thought. Schneider has met with Maye at the combine ( as well as Daniels) and afterwards said the reason is you never know if a player will drop. Maye has some of the attributes JS likes-good size, great arm, and mobile. Haven't paid hardly any attention to Maye ( didn't seem realistic possible the Seahawks could draft him) so I just watched the Clemson game and he sure didn't look good to me that game, but one game against a superior opponent may not be ideal to get a feel of his potential. So I'm going to try to watch more of his games. The idea of the Seahawks drafting Maye is sort of exciting for me although I've been a Penix supporter (naturally him being a Husky player and going to the championship).

Yeah my pick was Penix to Denver
After hearing that Sean Payton wanted Mahomes in that draft, (maybe its a small sample size) i will say that he does have a knack for picking QB.
Will be very interested to see who Denver takes.

Sean Payton has been dying to get a nice Penix in his hands, he would definitely be thrilled if one fell in his lap. If there were 2 Penixes in this draft he'd be double fisting them

perhaps a knack for identifying a good QB..he has yet to actually pick a good one.

IN fact Payton has only drafted 3 QB's. ever. None of whom even became decent back ups
2020 Tommy Stevens in the seventh
2015 Garret Grayson in the 3rd
2010 Sean Canfield in the seventh

I guess with the FA period coming up, this is the start of the extension signings.

seems too obvious at this point and it is terrifying to think about that offense with Saquon
Pretty sure Saquon every season leads all RB consistently in "attempts for negative loss" yards.

You take the good with the bad but to have another homer hitter on that team stuck with Pierce and some Singletary would be a nice fit. Just don't overpay
