He did, but there is still more long-term promise in him than in Maulet.

Still, Maulet is someone who at least needs to be in camp until he can be unseated.
Agreed. Outside of Cam & Minkah, the entire defense looked pretty pedestrian after Watt went down to injury. He should bounce back this year.

Looks like Bush is officially not coming back.

Yet another upgrade at LB.

I know nothing about him, but whatever slams the door on Bush is ok with me.

Reading on him, a little it looks like he's a Spillane-type gap filler and complete liability in pass protection.

They really need to find a coverage LB. Not gonna get that cheap in FA. Gotta be the draft.

@ATL96Steeler would be smiling... Yet another mock draft prospect we loved has landed in Pgh... I was big on Roberts that year as a late-round blue chip guy at LB. He has yet to disappoint me for what I thought he could be at this level. I think he has even exceeded those expectations given how quickly he made an impact his rookie year.

That shores up the ILB position quite nicely... Side note, that sort of makes me sad for Mark Robinson. But something tells me we will still see him make an impact at some point.

Myles Jack
Cole Holcomb
Elandon Roberts
Mark Robinson

This group looks beefy AF.... and I love it

Guessing they tried to get him to take a paycut and he said hell no. His cap hit more than doubled this upcoming year. They save $8mil by cutting him ($3.25m dead).

Myles Jack was set to make $11.25mil this upcoming season.

Both Roberts and Holcomb were team captains, and Holcomb wore the dot.

I am wondering if they are going to rely on a safety for pass coverage with the hope both ILB's could focus on the run?

Really not sure with Jack gone now what the plan is for pass coverage.

Wow, yeah there goes any remotely servicable player as a coverage LB.

Been watching some film on Holcomb... Definitely does a good job in short zones & the flats. A lot faster than he looks. But as we know, this defense somehow finds a way to put ILBs on slot guys down the seem lol. For that role they really don't have anyone anymore. But that never stopped them from letting guys like Jon Bostic do it lol. I'm sure we'll get the square peg round hole approach once more. But I'm hopeful they have eyes on someone in the draft to fit that role.

He will make some nice plays for you when he is running downhill.

Any half decent O Coord and QB are going to isolate him in coverage and abuse him.

He is a good dude, but he is one dimensional.
