Um...

You act like there is only 1 superstar in the league at a time.

Pippen WAS on par with Ewing, Barkley, etc.

There are multiple superstars in the league today who aren’t in the same tier as LeBron.

When did I ever suggest that?

But you're almost categorizing Pippen with guys like Jordan and Kareem when he was clearly a tier or two down.

No, I am not.

You are saying Pippen isn’t a superstar because he isn’t on the level of top tier all time greats.

Why are you trying to compare him to Kareem? That makes no sense at all.

And while Pippen definitely was not a top 10 player all time, or even a top 20 player, he is a hell of a lot closer than Kyrie Irving.

Which has been my point all along.

He also only averaged 0.5 blocks per game.

The scrub!!!

But he only avergaed 36.0 minutes per game. What a slacker. Steve Francis averaged 37.56 minutes per game.

And I never disagreed with that.

I said that if Kyrie was willing that accept that Beta role he would be considered a much better player.

My comparison with Pippen was merely to point out that when it comes to all time #2 options on a team, he is the benchmark.

You seemed to have interpreted that as "Kyrie is just as good as Pippen"

Not going to answer the question?

You have Pippen on the same tier as MJ. So a top 10 player?
Just outside.....top 15-20.....and that's anybody's definition of a superstar.

The problem is that there are levels/tiers of superstars.

You have the very top level of superstars...the guys in the GOAT convo. That's pretty much MJ, Kareem, Magic and Lebron.

After that group is the next tier...guys like Kobe, Bird, Timmy, etc.

Then come the Malone, Barkley, etc. level guys.

Imo, the question with Pippen is which tier, below the GOAT tier, does he belong in.

I have him in tier 3, but on the lower end of it. Tier 3 includes players like Dirk, Barkley, Jerry West, Garnett

Yeah, I'd have him tier 3 most likely. He was never really a #1 and in the couple of seasons where you could say he was, he couldn't get his team past the 2nd round.

Right.

And Kyrie needs a lot more than “accepting a role” to reach that tier.

He is a below average by NBA standards in terms of athleticism. He is insanely skilled. Yes, he would be a better player if he had an attitude like Curry’s, but the tier where Pippen resides is probably about where Curry will end up. And that is almost certainly higher than Kyrie’s absolute ceiling if he did everything perfectly.
