AD requested a trade because he wants to win and play for a team who can compete for a championship. THAT is what damaged the relationship with the team.
As I said — In no way, shape, or form am I saying be will stay in NO. I think he ends up in NY. I am just saying the chance to draft Zion gave them a sliver of hope.
I know the GM met with Davis, but I’d guess he will open up trade talks to see what the deals are he can get, so he has all his bases covered.

David Griffin is posturing.

He is selling to all that will listen that he wants to keep AD and that he thinks he can convince AD to stay in NO.

Why?

Because if other teams believe that Griff might keep him, they may offer a better return package.

Any GM would do the same but Griff is one of the best, he knows what he is doing

He's good and I loved him on NBA TV, but still not buying he's anything special. Just not sure what move he made that made him a must keep here.

I’m not positive what type of money NO will have. But they have Jrue Holiday already, who averaged 21 ppg, 8 assists and 5 rebounds at PG. With Zion at SF or PF and AD at PF or Center, that gives them 3 really good starters and one is only 10 million a year.

As I said — I am not saying he will re-sign with NO. I’m just NO has a small chance to talk him into staying.

There’s chance, but just putting myself in his shoes...NY, LA or NO....his brand is just so much bigger in the two major markets, with a megastar that’s a team player?

No doubt, but the 0% chance they’d had to get AD to return to NO, at least bumped up to a possibility by getting that #1 pick and the chance to draft Zion.

That alone will help him when dealing with the few teams AD will agree to go to.

I hate to say it, as I actually like LeBron as a player, but don’t like how he has jumped from team to team — so I hope AD goes to NY (which is where I think he goes because of that #3 pick) and Kawhi comes to LA, but goes to the Clippers, and KD goes to NY with AD (they’d be fun to watch together)

The more and more I think about it, I think this is going to be the same old story for New York. They dont get anyone, I mean why would anyone realistically want to play their other than it’s New York and MSG and the history

I think they will. I’d love to see AD play with Zion, but I think they end up dealing AD to NY, with the selling point being the chance for NO to team up Zion and Barrett.

I think the team who can get left out of it or end up with their 4th or 5th choice of the FA’s they wanted is the Lakers.

Over the last 2 years they have stockpiled young assets. They have not had win now pieces, but they have a lot of young, cheap, talented players that rebuilding teams like NO will want.

If you were paying attention, I told you they would suck for a couple seasons with the goal to accumulate resources for exactly this type of trade in the 2019 off season.

This is precisely why we all told you that you are a fool for wanting the Knicks to win more games the last 2 years.

Because with a better record, they don't have the assets or the cap space to pull this off.

WHAT DAAAAAA.... who the hell said they had win now talent, R U on DRUGS?

And another thing pinhead, how did the knicks tanking help them? Lol..

There could be no good arguments about the Knick organization. Get rid of Diblasio and Dolan! Then we could go at it!

It can be a blank slate, roster wise. Most of the players left have value as young prospects, can be traded for vets or developed. Cap space available for 2 max players. Someone like Durant can have his own team and bring a friend, and maybe they add AD in place of the kids. There is just a ton of flexibility. It's not like the whole front office is cancerous, it's just the owner. Being a star in a city like NY is like no other, and brings a lot of additional opportunities.

Try reading.

I always said their roster did not have win now talent.

You always expected them to win anyway.

If they are able to execute their plan this summer, they could have the talent to actually contend.

NO, what you said was the roster had no talent!

And all I ever wanted was to watch a team who competed!

Nope.

I always said they didn't have talent to win now. Always.

Last summer when they hired Fizzdale we had this exact discussion.

I said the Knicks had the least talented roster in the league in terms of winning today, but that they were building for a big move in the summer of 2019. that being bad and clearing cap space now was part of that process. You never understood that back then, and you clearly still don't now.

None of the main pieces in a possible AD trade were helping the Knicks win games last year. And they won't be helping they Knicks win games next year either.

Because if those guys are all still on the roster it probably means the Knicks struck out in FA and are still rebuilding.

Now Stephen A., who has said for months he thinks Kyrie and KD will be in New York together, says not only Kyrie is for sure going to the Nets but KD is "probably" going to the Nets as well. I guess the New York part was right but I'm guessing next week he says they both will go to the Clippers :pound:

Funny how other teams seem to find a place for these least talented players!

Fizzdale will be back assisting in 2 years!

These players on the Knicks aren't "least talented", they are just extremely young. DSJ, Knox, Robinson, and Trier are all valuable rostered players. Ntilikina appears to be out of favor, but shouldn't be tough to move via trade. The only other guys that are currently on the roster are a bunch of non-guaranteed contracts; Lance Thomas (a bigger contract at $7.6M) and various cheaper players like Jenkins, Ellenson, Dotson, and Garrett, who could have value as depth players should the Knicks choose to keep them (and/or find cap space to do so after free agency).

Everyone else is a free agent this summer (Jordan, Mudiay, Hezonja, Kornet, Vonleh, and Hicks) and most or all of them will be denounced to open up as much cap space as possible for free agency.

Just laying it out there so that hopefully we have some common ground to discuss this upon.
Oh boy are you in for a disappointment. He's crazy as a bug.
