Anyways, the GOAT got 2nd today and that’s what I’ll remember most.

Sorry Brooks.....great playing, but fortunate that Tiger made some boneheaded plays or it would have been a -20 finish.
Jack Nicklaus did not play today. Good lord, you sicken me.

Seriously? Some follks still caught up in the past & Tigers personal life? LOL. Who gives a shit. Personally I don't watch sports to only root for squeaky clean folks. I really don't care about their personal lives (short of say someone who committed a major crime or is a POS like Rae Carruth).

Do people feel the same way about Dustin Johnson? He also did some questionable things in the past (as I am sure did others on PGA tour). Again - who cares. I watch golf for what happens inside the ropes - not all of the other nonsense.

I just have to laugh at folks giving him a hard time now. He has not really been doing anything lately that is that bad. He has been healthy, has not quit a round, has been playing very well, has been well behaved & gives lots of credit to other golfers. Heck - he was even high fiving fans yesterday.

I like watching him but also enjoy watching other golfers. As for the over exposure - again so what. That is just how the media reports things in this era, and if weren't Tiger it would be someone else & it will be someone else in the future. Not sure why that upsets some folks.

I hope the fucker never wins again. I choose to root against him. Nothing wrong with that either.

Hey, I love Jack. But if I put him in his prime next to Tiger in his......I have to believe Tiger comes out on top.

idk if that would be true or not, but Jack has said it himself.

Tiger clearly was the most dominant player in the history of the game in his prime, but as long as major wins are the measuring stick...Jack is still on the throne.

Some people are simply Tiger haters and they always will be, I don't count myself among them...but as @Myles said...there's nothing wrong with that either.

I hated (wrong word, I don't hate anyone that I don't know, but really, really disliked) Larry Bird, and Wilt Chamberlin, and to be honest was never really a Jordan fan...respected their talent and have nothing bad to say about them, but just not a fan.

Are we playing with the equipment and ball in Jack's era or Woods'?

Two differences I see between the Woods of old and Woods now. The first is he gagged badly again with the tournament on the line as he did in the British and in Florida earlier this year. He never used to do that.
More telling though was the ridiculous leg kick and fist pump at 18 at the PGA when he had already blown the tournament. It was like "Yes, I've clinched third place" when he would have been angry at third in the past.

He seemed so desperate to do the fist pump thing in front of the crowd that he did it when you know he really wasn't feeling it. It seemed really contrived but I'll be damned if the saps in the crowd did not eat it up. But the old Woods never would have been happy about clinching third. especially when he choked so badly on the previous hole.

I'm not a fan of Tiger's, but it was fun watching him step up his game..very impressive what he can still do after have his spine fused.

Just as fun was watching Kopeka stay focused and not get rattled.

I like watching the young players interacting with the kids, it's the one thing i wish Tiger would do.

The difference imo in the Tiger of old and now...he was the chaser yesterday...chasers have to press and when you press you fuck up eventually. Chasers rarely win majors unless the hunted (Norman) comes back to them.

Nope - not at all. That typically happens with high profile athletes - they are polarizing. Look at LeBron - guaranteed he has a high number of fans & people who don't like him.

You have to understand the narrative. Remember this guy could barely walk not long ago. As he ages I am also sure that he has a different perspective on things. He also played well - it just that Koepka shot lights out. You are probably rt about the old Woods doing that - so what. Like most of us we act different as we get older - especially given some of the things someone like this has encountered over the past several years (much admittedly due to his own choices).

BTW - how is shooting a 64 gagging?

Very true about the last part, but if you watched closely you did actually see Tiger high five several fans after one hole - that never occurred in the past. He also appears to be a bit more respectful & appreciative of the crowds. However old habits die hard. BTW - Tiger does interact a lot with kids off the course with his foundation & his learning centers.

Yep. My rooting isn't as much against Tiger as it is rooting against the media folks and their infatuation.

He's referring to the drive on 17 I'm guessing...but he was fighting his driver all day (I was most impressed with his score considering he might've hit 5 FWs for the day). I thought the putt on 16 was wimpy considering he knew he had to have it, but like I said earlier...chasers rarely win majors unless the leader comes back to them and Koepka didn't come back.

Sure - I agree with you on that. However big difference in say making mistakes & choking or gagging. Everyone made some mistakes yesterday - including Koepka & Scott. Thomas made some key mistakes yesterday (including missing a very short putt), and I certainly would not say that gagged or choked yesterday.

I thought the pressure got to him on the drive on 17 because he knew he had to make birdie after leaving that putt short on 16....was it a choke? imo no, not the way he was driving the ball.

A choke in golf is Van De Velde, at Carnoustie or Scott Hoch at the Masters...taking a sure thing and turning into a loss.
