For anyone interested in the entire thing being laid out in a logical manner, read this link.

BuckeyeGrove.com - Column: For Ohio State, even truth is fighting a moving target

In the meantime, Courtney Smith has released a statement through her attorney:

Here is irony: Courtney has been stopped at least 3 times driving while intoxicated and in every instance she was escorted home after telling the police that she was afraid and Zach was after her. In her statement, her attorney states that she has never been charged with DUI. Zach has never been charged with domestic violence, either.
That article sums it up perfectly.

Tthere have been five subsequent edits to the very first post between July 23 and July 30. The latest revision states he "was investigated" for felony counts of domestic violence and felonious assault against Courtney.

The revisions –alterations–were made to the posts without any clarification. There were no retractions for the original mistake; no logs or clarification for the following edits. McMurphy's stance is that the original copy of the Oct. 26, 2015 allegation had a checkbox ticked for "arrest" with other versions correcting that mistake made by the Powell Police Department.

We're left with only McMurphy's word on the inaccuracy. To date, he has not released his copy of the report. But it's not the mistake itself that is necessarily unforgivable rather the lack of self-awareness as to how the initial report could have guided Meyer's own missteps.

The flat denial is a mistake Meyer is still paying for, even if he was being truthful thinking about an arrest. After his statement on Fri. Aug. 3, it's become accepted in media circles that Meyer confessed to a lie.

Only, he didn't.

"My intention was not to say anything inaccurate or misleading," Meyer said in his Twitter response. "However, I was not adequately prepared to discuss these sensitive personnel issues with the media and I apologize for the way I handled those questions."

Lying to the media was never going to be relevant. And in attempting to apologize for confusion, it's simply been construed publicly as an admission that hasn't been made.

You've got to be the densest motherfucker in the world. Do you seriously think Meyer would ever actually say a word regarding Zach actually abusing his wife to the media when there were never any convictions or even any charges? He'd be in a world of shit legally if he even gave an opinion on it actually happening without actual evidence.

Guess what? Nowhere in the script do they mention allegations either. They mention an incident. The incident in question, as reported by McMurphy, was that Smith was arrested for felonious assault. It just is what it is. If you choose to still believe that the reporters would be talking about allegations (which weren't noted in the report) and not an arrest (which was noted in the report), then that's your choice.

You have to be the dumbest homer I know. McMurphy report was not brought up in the line of the question. An Meyer would absolutely comment on abuse if it’s masked by the word “Incident”. That’s the key word here.

An incident is what you get arrested for. An arrest isn’t an incident. If you can’t accept that then it is what it is.

Bottom line: If Meyer reported the “2015 incident” to his superior he will be coaching Ohio state again. If he did not then his next job will be at New York State barber college. When do we find out the results? Is this going to be like Trump when we have to wait until after the midterms to give the Dems an advantage? TCU is loving this.

Jesus fuck, what do you think prompted all of this? Just an arbitrary question? No, he wouldn't comment on abuse whatsoever if he doesn't have proof. What was he gonna say? "Yeah he beat her good, you all saw the pictures". Jesus, dude.

An incident is an event by definition. An arrest would fall under the definition of an event, wouldn't it?

You know what definitely isn't an incident? Rumors or allegations.

Bingo. We'll find out by next week I'm sure.

If she was drunk and driving and wasn't arrested. Why is it so hard for them to believe he was beating her and wasn't arrested? Its the same police.

Good point. I'm moving to Powell, where I'll be allowed to drive drunk and keep my pimp hand strong.

Jesus Christ man. You get arrested because of an incident. An arrest isn’t an incident. It’s common fucking sense. An he had fucking reasonable proof an incident occurred. Unless you are going back to the wife didn’t tell him defense. Thats what he was referring to when he said he had just heard about it the day before. That is exactly what I’m getting out.

lol. I have a feeling that police dept is not ready for a microscope on how they deal with things.
:suds:
Powell's not that big. If she got pulled over driving while drunk, there's a good chance she was closer to the city or maybe in Dublin or Westerville, two adjacent and significantly bigger suburbs.

It just sounds bad. Getting pulled over three times while she was drunk and let her go on her merry way. Lots of questions there. Like who has the info that she was pulled over drunk and let go three times? The husband? someone in the police dept? Because that's something that could get investigated and would shine a light on how they handled this couple.

I'd call getting arrested a pretty big fucking event, wouldn't you?

This is my last post on this because you're completely and ignorantly dug in and evidently think you were inside Urban's head the entire day he was in front of the media despite not having anything to back up your ramblings. Every single thing you just said in this post is completely unfounded and is more biased against Urban than you accuse me of being for him.

This whole situation has brought up a ton of questions. I haven't heard anyone personally say she was pulled over 3 times, but I've heard multiple people say she would show up at practices or walk-throughs after drinking and make a scene, so I guess she had to get there somehow.

I said earlier that I think they're both likely awful people in their own way, and the real truth probably lies somewhere in the middle of all the stuff that's been alleged on both sides. I think regardless of how the OSU investigation comes out, nothing that anyone there could've done would've made a difference. This shit would've been happening if he was coaching at OSU or if he was the manager of a Dick's Sporting Goods.

Again, common sense has to sink in here. You get arrested because of an incident. An arrest isn’t an incident.

An I highly doubt it’s your last post. You have mericilessly defended Meyer right when this came out. You aren’t objective on this. It is what it is but stop acting like you have no bias here and can be objective.

True but if he was managing Dicks Sporting goods Urban wouldn't be in this mess. His biggest Fkup is not cutting ties with this guy a long time ago.

Basically, if you're an Ohio State fan taking a "wait and see" approach to this fiasco, you're going to be labeled as an Urban Meyer ball sucker by the Urban Meyer/tOSU haters.

Pretty much. I try to take a wait and see approach with anything like this because I’ve been burned jumping to conclusions before. I am however amused by the heated argument regarding the word “incident”.

Very possible, but I'd say honorable mention goes to not saying "that's a private matter and I'm not going to address it today" during the B1G Media Day. I think they'd be dealing with a fraction of the shitstorm that's on their hands if he'd have just played that smarter.

You're never going to get the Powell PD to admit she was "pulled over DUI 3 times and escorted home without charges".
This isn't pre-2000. Cops arrest other cops for DUI now days. If they're caught letting one of their own go (let alone a citizen), they themselves are typically fired.

That '3 DUI's" stuff is a key point in why people see 'victim blaming/shaming' going on here by the Urb defenders. Discrediting the victim is a key point in the cycle of abuse. "That fucking bitch is a liar. Even if he did beat on her, she deserved it".

Let's give the "3 DUI's" allegation some credibility for the sake of debate......

IF the Powell PD was willing to let the wife of an assistant coach off the hook for DUI "3 times" due to her ties to the Ohio St football program, what would they look the other way on when it's an actual coach?
