If they were in win now mode LBJ wouldn't have said he understands this first year isn't a given in terms of the expectation of winning.

Lebron hasn't publicly said anything since he made the decision to sign for the Lakers so I don't know where you got that from.

Re-sign Harris?
Not for anywhere near the max.

When other teams whiff on Klay, Butler, Kawhi, Kyrie...

Tobias is the next tier and lots of teams have money next Summer.

What are you insinuating? That Lebron is going to be goofing off for the season? Maybe make a trip to Disneyland in between games?

Perhaps you're simply confusing 'win now' with 'championship contenders'.
He's not that type of Dude.

That's more Dwight Howard's style.

But, for a player of Lebron's stature, win now mode does mean championship.

...finals appearance at the very least.

The Lakers aren't done building their roster yet.
Ummmm, I think they are with maybe a tweak here and there.

Even if you get Kawhi, you'd lose depth. So, adding him doesn't change your fortunes.

Unless you are trading for Anthony Davis, the Lakers are like every other team in the NBA...

Playing for 2nd place....

Well, third....because 2nd place would be the team that looses to the Warriors in the Finals.

And that's exactly what he'll be going for. Magic and Luke recently said he wants a completely different type of team around him that he's had in the past. He has had input in the signings of Rondo, Lance and Javale. There have even been rumors going around saying that he's suggested keeping the young core intact instead of trading the farm for Kawhi.

Now is the team good enough to win a championship? Well of course not. But that doesn't mean the Lakers aren't going to try.

So does that mean that 28 teams in the league aren't playing to 'win now'?

Ok. Thanks for your input

Did the league give the Lakers extra roster spots that the rest of the league doesn't know about?

"Lakers aren't done building their roster yet"

They have 1 roster spot left unless they release players

Lakers need to do the smart thing.

Win your 46-50 games, win a playoffs series, and go after a star next summer without losing any of your young players.

You're not beating the Warriors this year.

Well done.

Who said they were?

Listen, all that " different type of team " stuff is just lipstick on a pig.

This is essentially a development year for your young guys.

Lance, Rondo, Mcgee, KCP are one year placeholders for capspace.

The reason the Lakers aren't going all in on Kawhi is because they know that, even if they get him, he and LeBron are not enough to win a championship.

Might as well keep your assets and try to sign him outright.

But, it's a development year because one of the young guys needs to turn into that 3 rd guy or the lot of them will get traded for one.

No, you aren't taking.

But, you are not a legit contender either as currently constructed.
