I just think they are kind of like when Mizzou is winning the SEC East, it's more a sign of division weakness than it is a great team.

The 1st year Missouri won the SEC East, I thought they were an elite team. The following year I think the East was down, but Missouri was still a top 25 team, which I would consider good.

I will take the top 4-5 of the B1G against any conference. The rest is absolute trash.

You mentioned Colorado and Wazzu. Colorado lost at Michigan, no shame in that. Wazzu stunk it up OOC no denying that. But they were only the 5th/6th best team in the Pac 12 IMO. Washington State essentially did what Iowa did last year. Iowa was probably the 5th/6th best team so it's essentially the same.

Umm, OOC games don't matter an iota. They are glorified practice games when you aren't a a team shooting for a title. When we take a SEC champion to the wire in their house it doesn't matter for the strength of the conference then why should a FCS loss matter for the strength of the Pac 12?

Because all wins by SEC teams are considered excellent. And all losses are "good losses."

Washington St. finished 2nd in the PAC North last season and they most likely will again this year. Colorado is going to take a step back due to big losses including their DC.

That's another big reason I have the Pac 12 so low in my rankings.

The PAC has Washington USC and Stanford that should/could be top ten teams and UCLA who should bounce back to at least 8 wins. Utah and Colorado are the key. If they get close to what they were last season ( in the top 25) then the PAC should be at least the 3rd best conference with 6 teams ranked and three near the top ten. Lets not forget the SEC had Bama at #2 then it was Washington USC Stanford before you saw another SEC team in the rankings.

You guys think you know more than the 6000 AP voters who do this for a living.
50% of the BIG XII being ranked, obviously puts us in the drivers seat when it comes to this discussion.

I don't care how you twist it or what kind of made up criteria you want to post, it's just the facts.

Easy to get 50% when there are only 10 teams. BXII needs to either expand to move to other conferences. SEC would LOVE to have OU

The SEC was getting 8 and 9 teams in the top 25 a few years ago.
Now they don't.

And half your Conference being ranked means you have a lot less bottom dwellers to feed on like the other conferences.

I think Utah is due for a down year. They lost 8 players to the draft and 7 more to UDFA, that is 15 NFL level players lost in one year. Including all 5 of their starting Oline. They don't have the pipeline of the USC/Alabama types. If Colorado comes back to earth as well it seems like a good bet the Pac-12 slips to 5.

I do think USC is back and either them or Washington ends up in the playoffs, but those 2 and Stanford don't make an elite conference.

Not to kick the Big 12 while they are down, but basically, you could make an argument for any of the conferences, but the Big 12.

ACC has an argument
SEC obviously has an argument
B1G has an argument
PAC 12 has an argument

It is nothing more than opinion though and there is no right or wrong answer. Personally, I'd say the SEC because they have the top team and put out the most NFL players. They need an overhaul of coaches though. I'd love to see what Georgia could do with a legit HC -- so much talent and they struggle ever year it seems. Same with LSU, Florida, etc. instead of buying recruits, they need to be investing in some coaches. :behindsofa:

Maybe I underestimate the Pac12, but they looked pretty bad last year IMO. UCLA and Oregon weren't even bowl eligible. Washington St was the #2 team in the Pac 12 North and they lost to E Washington (who nearly won a national title last year...but was still a lower division team). I can see Washington, USC, and Stanford having a strong season, but I don't see much from the rest of the conference. Colorado and Utah lost a lot of nice players, and they aren't the type of programs that can simply "reload". UCLA was a mess, even with SEVERAL top 20 recruiting classes the past 4-5 years. I think the only chance that the Pac12 have of cracking into being one of the top 3 conferences is if Oregon returns back to what they were a few years ago, and UCLA starts playing up to it's potential.

This whole discussion, between us and with the AP voters is opinion based. You can have half your division ranked all you want but the facts are the Big 12 hasn't been relevant in years. Yeah, Oklahoma was a playoff team in 2014 but that's about it. You can't base your argument on 1 fact when there are a MULTITUDE of facts that work AGAINST the Big 12. For instance, national championships, playoff wins, overall competition within the division and against other power 5 divisions. Also, last year at the end of the year, only 3 of the BIG 12 teams were ranked. At the end of 2015, only 4. So yeah, preseason, the Big 12 looks great. But as the season progresses, most of the conference goes downhill. Like you said, it's just the facts and you can't just be blinded by the ones that hurt your conference and brag about the 1 or 2 that does.
