We haven't seen Langford in a few days and that concerns me. Also concerning is that not one reporter has told us anything about why Langford suddenly quit appearing in games. Even if it is something minor, it is newsworthy considering all eyes have been on him since camp opened.

Didn't realize he did not have any more RBI's after that in the World Series.
Yeah, that seems odd now that you mention it. I looked it up and he went 0 for 6, with 2 walks in the next two games.

I asked the DMN beat writer and no response

I asked Jeff Wilson and Jared Sandler just now on Twitter. Maybe one of them will answer, or maybe he plays today.

Cowlishaw had an article this morning about Langford and Carter, and he did not mention anything about who we haven't seen Langford in a few days. He did say something in the article that I had not read before about Langford's slow start.

"After a 1-for-10 start in Cactus League, Langford realized he had lowered his hands too much, put them back where they belong and struck for three home runs and seven RBIs in two games against the Giants and White Sox. That got him back to a .353 batting average he can more readily recognize."

From Jeff Wilson:

Getting closer

Third baseman Josh Jung took live batting practice for the first time since straining his left calf, a sign that he is moving closer to playing in a Cactus League games.

There’s on major thing holding him back, though.

“He’s can’t run,” manager Bruce Bochy said.

Some would say Jung couldn’t run before the injury (rimshot, please). Bochy said that that Jung is doing some light jogging and isn’t all that far away from being ready for a game.

Bochy again said that he’s hopeful that shortstop Corey Seager will be ready for Opening Day and possibly get him some at-bats late in spring. The AL MVP runner-up caught the flu not long ago and was slowed a few days.

The conclusion is that Jared likes Leody more than he thinks other GMs like him, and maybe a lot more.

I had heard that earlier. Glad he is back in the lineup

MLB has their new Top 30 Rangers Prospects list out. Newly signed, Paulino Santana comes in at #14.

Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 55 | Run: 60 | Arm: 45 | Field: 55 | Overall: 45

The No. 2 prospect in MLB Pipeline's 2024 international rankings, Santana signed out of the Dominican Republic for $1,297,500. He got better as the signing period approached and earned comparisons to Julio Rodríguez for both his five-tool potential and his personality. He's advanced enough to possibly reach Single-A during his pro debut, just as the gem of the Rangers' 2023 international class (Sebastian Walcott) did last summer.

Santana performed well at the World Wood Bat Association World Championship in Florida last October, showing the potential to hit for average and power while competing against top U.S. high school prospects for the 2024 Draft. A right-handed hitter, he controls the strike zone with an extremely mature approach and shows the ability to make adjustments at the plate. He has the bat speed and projectable strength to grow into plus pop and drives the ball to all fields.

Santana also has the plus speed to make an impact on the bases and in center field. The only obvious weakness in his game is his arm, which grades as below-average-to-fringy but should be playable in center. He's bilingual and earns raves for his work ethic and intelligence.

From MLB Pipeline:

Biggest jump/fall
Here are the players whose ranks changed the most from the 2023 preseason list to the 2024 preseason list.
Jump: Jose Corniell, RHP (2023: NR | 2024: 9)
He improved his stuff and control in 2023, conquered two Class A levels at age 20 and earned Rangers Minor League pitcher of the year honors.
Fall: Cole Winn, RHP (2023: 14 | 2024: NR)
He went 15th overall in the 2018 Draft because he combined stuff and polish, but he has regressed in both areas while posting a 6.71 ERA in Triple-A the last two seasons.

If we could have 4 in 2 or 3 years, that would be great.
