This draft is going to be one of the deepest in a while. I'd compare it to the 2003 draft class if not slightly better. There are about 12-15 sure fire picks then after that about another 30 players who probably deserve to be 1st round picks. Right now next years draft is shaping up to be a bit top heavy with a significant drop off in talent after the first 5-7 picks.

Yes, if you want to restock the prospect pool with quality this is the year to do it. That's the main reason many GM's with marginal PO teams regard their 1st round picks as untouchable.

Sounds good. I'm sure there will be some GM out there that will give up their 1st for Boyle (maybe even Clowe?). Would love to see Doug get two 1sts in this year's draft based on what you said about the depth of this year's draft. Something like a mid 1st (Sharks own) plus a 20 something over all (Boyle trade) would be a good start.

Nieto, IMO will be ready for the NHL next season. I believe he's that far along in his developement. I didn't get to see last nights game but from what I've heard from those who did he was by far the best player on the ice.

He was the one who attended Sharks rookie camp last season and had a great offensive showing. Good skater who sees the ice really well. Up until this season in the OHL he was considered a one zone player. His defensive positioning and effort through the neutral zone and in the defensive zone were always questionable. This year he showed solid improvement in those areas.

Barring injuries no one will get the call up with the intention of seeing game action. I'm sure some will get called up after Worcester's season as a bonus and learning experience but that's it.
