Why the Hatred of Nickelback?

Just checking out some songs on my phone, and 3 of the best songs were by Nickelback. See below. What is the basis for the internet hatred of them?

My disdain for Nickel back is the same reason I came to disdain Staind. Once they each got that one hit that crossed over into mainstream pop, they totally changed their tune and sold out.

When their first album came out I thought they were alright. But then the second album sounded exactly like the first. And then they started putting out garbage like Photograph and Rockstar. And now they're just....bad. Not the worst thing out there but still bad.

They are the negative result of Grunge. Endless streams of bands that sound exactly the same.

Lol, I liked them as a kid but now they are just really mainstream to me. Their bleeding heart style is probably a real turn off to most people. I never heard Rockstar before and I actually thought that was kinda good. It seems to me like a commentary on the materialism of American Culture, but then again the reason why they put out the same songs over and over again is because they share that very same materialism. As a result I can't tell whether they're proud or ashamed, probably proud, so that lessens the song for me.

No. What you're thinking of is a thread about the best Van Halen song and I commented that they were overrated. Then I said that the often maligned Nickelback had at least 3 (maybe 4) songs better than Van Halen's best song, resulting in almost all of my non-positive ratings.

I loved Staind for a long time, then everything sounded the exact same or was just awful when they tried varying it up.

I also wore a varsity jacket at the time. And had a soul patch though.
