so yeah, i played a little hockey in college, and some basketball. walked on to both. i also played rugby, but that was club.

Markannen will average double digits his rookie year. All of you and your stereotypes make me sick.

I like his style, I think he will be the next Dirk. He's not flashy but he's got a nice form on his jumpshot and can rebound pretty well.

What school did you play at, Rock?

I played pickup hoops, but my school had one of the best D2 mens teams in the nation when I went. I wasnt making that team.

got my undergrad at north adams state (now MCLA to sound progressive!). our center was 6'6. thats D3. we actually had a kid scouted by portland, our leading scorer at the time.

i was not an all world athlete. i just played a lot of sports, well...especially hoops and hockey. i played on travels teams for hockey as a kid, started in juniors in springfield...quit when my parents divorced. picked hockey back up my freshman year of college.
hoops, i played a ton of street ball in worcester with my friend mike i mentioned. it was funny to show up to pick up games at crompton park and beaver brook with a 6'10 white kid. the looks...

i did some hoop it up tourneys too.

Do you think that the sun's really passed on Booker and the number four pick for the Unicorn?

I wouldn't trade Booker straight up for Porzingas, so yeah. They better have passed on that.

Both players have superstar upside. But, we aren't in 1987 anymore. If you have a choice between a potentially elite wing and a potentially elite big, you take the wing.

My favorite? Not sure I have one.

Jabari Parker, JJ Reddick, Luol Deng, Shane Battier, Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand have all achieved their potential.

Too early to tell in Hood, Ingram, Winslow or Okafor yet.

Other than Sheldon Williams, I can't think of a serious bust to come out of Duke since Dunleavy.

Grant Hill probably had the best career for a Dukie and even he got crushed by injuries.

I voted Markkanen. The Ryan Anderson/Channing Frye comparisons fit him very well.

I think it will be one of the top 4 picks. These guys are all supposed to be stars. At least one will not. If Maarkanen ends up being Ryan Anderson, that is pretty good. In the second half of the lottery the expectation is more that the player will develop into a starting caliber player. Anything more is gravy.

Most likely to fail to live up to the hype, IMO is Ball. I say that only because the hype is out of control. I think he will be good. Most are counting on him to be great. I am not convinced just yet. Fultz is a close second. I don't think either are significantly better prospects than Tatum or Jacskon, yet they carry far greater expectations/pressure because of their draft slot.

How's that?

Duke has one of the richest pedigrees of any school in the ranks of NBA alumni.

Sure they put alotta players in the NBA but how many of them have made several all star games or had a HOF career?

I think you would find yourself on an island with this one.

Porzingas is a rim protector with a good 3 who can play in space and in the paint.

If he can stay healthy he will be an elite level player.
