My favorite? Not sure I have one.

Jabari Parker, JJ Reddick, Luol Deng, Shane Battier, Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand have all achieved their potential.

Too early to tell in Hood, Ingram, Winslow or Okafor yet.

Other than Sheldon Williams, I can't think of a serious bust to come out of Duke since Dunleavy.
sheldon was awful, i remember trying to reclaim his career here.

i always thought brand was supposed to be more than what he was. he was toast by 27/28.

doc rivers kid suuuucks.

The hell does that matter?

Are you one of those guys that think the fact you played sports at some level, somehow adds credence to your opinion of pros?
no. but i did play. a lot. it does help gain perspective.

one of my best friends (years ago) got drafted 17th overall, flamed out of the league. i watched the process with him, first hand. so i have that added perspective i suppose...

but someone who has only played organized church ball can have an opinion like the fat guy behind a keyboard or someone who played 3 years in college.

Austin Rivers is 24 years old, averaging 12PPG off the bench. Shooting 7% from 3?

I wouldn't say he sucks.

Brand averaged like 20 and 10 for a decade.

37%

not 7

and yes, he sucks. he only got drafted so high because of his old man. he had no business being taken as high as he was. late round pick at best.

and brand was good, not great. longest arms ive ever seen for someone of his height.

That's wonderful that you had a friend who was drafted.

Michael Jordan is the best player to ever live and also happens to be one of the worst talent evaluators in the entire pool of NBA executives.

That is great though that you were buddies with someone who played in college. You should apply for an internship with Danny Ainge's team. I bet they're looking for someone who once knew a guy who was drafted and has an eye for motors and first steps.

i played in college, just D3. my friend mike played at kentucky and transferred to villanova.

i never said i was applying for an nba job. im sure you could tho. there are a great number of teams out there dying to find someone to say they know more about basketball than the next guy because he "knows a lot of players got drafted out of duke".

This is a message board. Why are you lying about something as unimportant as playing basketball in college?

I don't think you're trying to brag I think you're trying to justify having an opinion that you regurgitated from morning radio.

You know damn well you didn't watch any Duke basketball this year and you know damn well you didn't play any D3 college basketball.

Elaborate, Please?
I was somewhat joking but comparing Markannen to Jimmer Freddete and saying he doesn't do anything other 7 footers normally do is incorrect. He averaged 7 boards a game in college as a freshman. It's pretty hard to average double digit rebounds in college. He's not much of a shot blocker but neither are half the big men already in the league. He also gets a rep of just being a shooter but in the middle of the season when his stroke had cooled off a bit he started going down low and dunking over people and showing his post game was pretty good as well. I've always thought he had one of the lowest bust potentials in the draft simply because the style of play he was taught in Finland is much more like the NBA style of play than college.

Oh okay, I get that.

You don't think he can be somewhere between Lambieer and Mo Speights?

I didn't want to use Zingers.

But, thought about Myles Turner, Kaminsky.

I think he's a better shooter, especially from outside, than Lambieer and Speights. Hopefully more consistent than Kaminsky is in the league. I think Kaminsky's skill set was built more for the college game and Wisconsin's system in particular. Plus Kaminsky was basically invisible until his junior year at Wisconsin where Markannen made an immediate impact his freshman year.

Do you think that the sun's really passed on Booker and the number four pick for the Unicorn?

Well said and a solid argument.

I'm gonna have to watch a few Bulls games to see how he develops.

Probably.

Because you have to think Chriss or Bender, or both, would have been included to thin the herd.

Phil wanted way too much.
