i hate duke...loathe duke (mostly for the douchebag fans). tatums motor concerns me, as does his first step. hes not as quick as youd like a wing scorer to be.
we'll see...

Watch a lot of Duke basketball this year?

No you didn't. Stop it.

My concern is for how many players make it to the NBA from that program very few go on to have great careers.

How's that?

Duke has one of the richest pedigrees of any school in the ranks of NBA alumni.

In this order:

1 - Markkanen - 7 Foot white guys with limitless range, but doesnt do anything else that 7 footers do? Scares me on the next level

2 - Ntilikina - Still only 18, great wingspan and a special defender, which is nice in todays NBA...But i cant get past averaging 5 points in Strausburg

3 - Zach Collins - really polished big man, nice low post and mid range game....I just wonder how much todays' NBA is suited to those type players

4 - Jayson Tatum - very high Miss rate with Duke players in the NBA...Reminds me of Okafor with more outside skills

I like the rest...Isaac is a fucking freak, that dude is perfect for todays; NBA.......I hate to say I think Lonzo Ball may end up being the best player in this draft, he is Kidd with a better shot......Fultz/Fox/Smith, I think will all be solid to great NBA players

Did a double take with "very high miss rate with Duke players in the NBA" and then I figured that this must be a subtle knock on Kyrie Irving to absolve LeBron James from his Warriors failure.

You "watched tape" and got a feel for his motor? You watches his highlight reel and felt critical of his first step?

You're one of those guys who has to talk like he's smarter than everyone else, eh?

I'm not a Duke fan at all. I'm an NBA fan who is aware of the massive load of quality Duke players that have come through the NBA in the past 10-15 years.

Markannen will average double digits his rookie year. All of you and your stereotypes make me sick.

I don't see how he couldn't. Someone has to score the points there.

Easy choice at the moment until I see him play a game in the league is French kid who the Knicks drafted.
As soon as you put Knicks and Euro Player in the same sentence then its almost too easy to see the guy busting

Of all these guys, I'd put Tatum near the top to NOT be a bust, simply because of the fact that he's got the most NBA ready game of any guy on this list. He may very well have one of the lower ceilings in this group, but he's also one of the most likely to put up a solid, if unspectacular career.

The bust potential of Jackson and Issac is probably the greatest, but they also have the potentlal to become superstars. I don't see Tatum becoming a superstar, but he won't be a bust either.

knowledgeable fans can decide for themselves. i saw a streaky shooter who played a little out of control at times, who was not as quick laterally as i'd like, and who has some bad habits to break.

i dunno, maybe its just me?

Duke Players in the NBA - RealGM

duke has turned out a lot of nba players, but most have been underwhelming as opposed to what they could or should have been based on evaluations.

Pretty much every time I see a KU player I just assume he'll bust but I might be biased.

My favorite? Not sure I have one.

Jabari Parker, JJ Reddick, Luol Deng, Shane Battier, Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand have all achieved their potential.

Too early to tell in Hood, Ingram, Winslow or Okafor yet.

Other than Sheldon Williams, I can't think of a serious bust to come out of Duke since Dunleavy.

The hell does that matter?

Are you one of those guys that think the fact you played sports at some level, somehow adds credence to your opinion of pros?
