Now that .048 Freddy is demoted, does Caesar or Darin come up? Or, why not dump .154 Nix and bring up both?

Because it's protocol for the Phillies to have at least one guy with the last name Nix on the roster?

Ruf is in Clearwater for rehab. He will play at least one week in low A ball. If he is healthy Sandberg will start him in right field and move Byrd to center. Caesar should be called up right away because his bat is needed. Revere will become a bench player. Keep in mind that Revere has not hit one double so far and his OBP is under .300. I suppose that Gwynn or Mayberry will be sent down. We need guys who can get on base!

With Brignac called up, we have a guy who's a little better than Galvis. Dumping Revere at leadoff would be dumb. Last year, Revere hit .370 vs LHP and .285 vs RHP. This year he' s .381 and .221, .283 overall, but he should be in the lineup daily to work it out. While Gwynn has a better OBP so far, in the long run his production would be far less than Revere, a proven .300 hitter.

It's been a long time since you've made a truly retarded post. This is a true return to form for you.

Right, because I'm the tool that uses freaking batting average to evaluate a hitter's production. And if you're going to use such an obsolete statistic, could you at least get the facts right? Good call on the "proven .300 hitter" thing, even though he's only hit .300 once and has a career .284 batting average. If Revere doesn't get his shit together and start overachieving real soon, he should and will end up on the bench in place for Gwynn.

Now, that's really retarded. In his first full year at MN in 2011, 23 yrs old, he hit .267. Then .294 and .305 in '12 and '13. So far only .283 after being jerked in and out of the lineup for 31 yr old, .240 lifetime slacker Gwynn (.227 now). You don't substitute a moron for Revere. Like I said, leave him at leadoff permanently and he'll reach 200 hits. Yes sir, that's fucken right. So Sandbooger needs to leave him play every game or he'll be ruining Revere and the team's chances of winning. Gwynn really stinks but I did like him in spring training. He's a loser. Also - defensive replacement? lol. The core of the team is good. Once Asche and Brown are up to speed and Revere's back on track from his current "slump", only the pathetic pitching staff can screw things up.

Again. I still don't know what this team is doing and it always results in krap like what we now have a tie with the Mets.

I don't remember him being jerked in and out of the lineup too much. I thought he was injured for a day or two and Gwynn had a few hits so they just let him start a couple more until he cooled off. Also, yeah, if you left him at leadoff every inning of every game he might get 200 hits (198 of them singles) but that in and of itself wouldn't make him a good leadoff hitter. The guy has 2 walks this year. Oh yeah, bonus- he is hitting .300 with RISP (6-20) and guess how many RBIs he has on the season TOTAL-5. That's not a typo, he has 5 fucking RBIs on 6 hits with runners in "scoring position". One of the reasons that's a bogus stat.
I'm sure he'll get better, but right now he leaves a lot to be desired.

Actually, I would really rather see Ruf/Byrd/Brown than Brown/Gwynn/Byrd. We'd be giving up a lot on defense, but it would be great to see them give Ruf one final chance. Even in a "bad" season last year, he still had an .806 OPS with a 121 OPS+. His defense is bad, but his bat is definitely capable of making up the difference. Consider this lineup:
1. Ruiz C
2. Asche 3B
3. Utley 2B
4. Byrd CF
5. Howard 1B
6. Ruf LF
7. Brown RF
8. Rollins SS

Highly unlikely that Rollins hits eighth, but a man can dream, right?

Then a bench of Revere, JMJ, Gwynn, Nix, and Nieves.

I'd rather not call CH up until Rollins, Utley, or whoever is playing centerfield gets hurt.
